The NYT just exposed how a radical anti-capitalist, anti-veteran activist group hijacked the FDA and ICER, sabotaging a decades-long effort to bring MDMA-therapy to the 13M Americans suffering from PTSD, including our veterans and first responders. It’s a blood-boiling read! For over 30 years, researchers and advocates invested time, energy, and $250M into rigorous clinical trials proving MDMA-therapy’s remarkable efficacy and safety, far beyond existing treatments. 67% of patients in these trials were healed from PTSD. The FDA’s advisory committee heard firsthand from trauma survivors and clinicians about how this therapy saves lives. Then, in a stunning reversal, a small but loud group, most with no medical or scientific credentials, pushed inflammatory, baseless claims and derailed the FDA approval process. Instead of celebrating a historic medical breakthrough, we watched ideology override science, leaving desperate patients abandoned by the very institutions meant to help them. This was never about patient safety. It was a political crusade. And now, the cost of that crusade is measured in lives. 22 veterans die by suicide every single day. Our new administration has a chance to right this wrong by putting science over politics. A clear pathway to approval is needed.
