Few people know tired like teachers. In fact research found that teachers make more minute-by-minute decisions than brain surgeons, and that’s extremely tiring. Then add in classrooms full of students & all the adaptations this year.

“Please listen! I am only go to say the directions once! So if you are not paying attention you won’t know what we are doing!” - me to my students knowing that I am going to repeat the directions at least 25 more times

Giving teachers mental health days is a catch-22 situation because they would be anxious about writing sub plans, being behind, and worrying about their students. Teachers are never really off, even when they're off. We need to really think about proper mental health supports.
