Here’s my updated lesson slides on the intro of Scrooge in A Christmas Carol.
I don’t really post my ACC lessons because I’m not sure how great they are but if they help one English teacher with planning and workload, I’m happy to share.

Work day today! I want to encourage every teacher on this platform to share one resource or strategy they've used this week that they've felt was good. We will never get old Twitter back but there is still hope. #onething sharing is caring!
English

@gasolinethrive Thank you - really like the acknowledgement of tone!
English

@missocmitchell For both papers, I’d encourage a full 15 mins of Ss navigating the extract or extracts, with 2-3 reads, perhaps the 2nd w a highlighter AND pen & alongside the Qs. Seeking to identify tone at start, over time & at end. 2-3 bullet summary at bottom of each.
English

@missocmitchell Start slow, pausing to check they have got the gist, annotated the important parts, can summarise sections and generally navigate the text. Once they have got the hang of it speed up and reduce the checks. Lots of practise with short sections to time.

@MrBruffEnglish Will absolutely watch this - thanks so much for reaching out!

@missocmitchell I was given a great approach by Chris Curtis, which I explain here: youtu.be/hM9Gv58zDac I've found it's a game changer.

@missocmitchell repetition mostly - reading larger and larger extracts then answering loads of questions about them using MWBs and paired talk, then teaching them to ask the same questions of themselves in their heads- what can i see? who is involved? how do they feel? etc repeat infinitely
English

@missocmitchell Get them to answer these essential questions whenever they read a text - What is the topic? What three things have I learned from the text/what three things happened? What is the mood or atmosphere?
English

@missocmitchell Of course - happy to! Will DM you a link x

Finished reading @johnboyne series of books in his Element collection: Earth, Water, Fire, Air. They are absolutely fantastic and I would give all of them 5*. Great literature 🕯️📚

@engteacherabro2 please could you send this to me too if I message my email address?
