Mehdi Hasan, who talks about Israel all the time, was born in London to Shia Muslim immigrants from India.
Unlike me (I was born in Egypt and my uncles and many members of my family served in the Egyptian army and fought Israel), Mehdi actually has ZERO connections to the Middle East.
Mehdi doesn't even speak Arabic.
His only connection is that he is a Muslim. So, he found his place in the ranks of the many jihadists, lunatics, maniacs, and antisemites fighting Israel.
Once you understand this, it becomes fairly easy to understand that the war against Israel is a religious one.
