@SECNAV gave an amazing speech last night at the EOD Memorial Ball. Zero politics. Instead, he focused on the suicide rate in the EOD ranks, which is the highest in the military. He spoke about mental health. He spoke about traumatic brain injury. He spoke about the strength that is required to get evaluated for blast exposure. His speech landed with the EOD community because he talked about something that isn’t spoken about enough…taking care of yourself.

I think if one is trying to figure out if a candidate is sympathetic to Nazis, one of the most important tests is whether the candidate knowingly got a death’s head tattoo signifying an elite, brutal group of SS officers and kept it until the second he wanted to run for Senate and someone noticed. It’s an insult to everyone’s intelligence to suggest otherwise. Sorry, his Medicare thoughts from last week are not permanent body art or absolution.

I was braising an avocado for breakfast this morning when my four year old daughter Allegra ran into the room with tears in her eyes. “Daddy,” she screamed. “Did you hear that Elisabeth Warren killed the discount airline Spirit?” I nodded. “They wanted to merge, but she said no. Now they’re gone forever. The savings are gone. The rowdy crowds. Everything. It’s all gone.” I nodded again. This time I was choked up too. “Will people on work release even be able to fly now?” I shook my head. “Even grandma?” With that, I lost it. We threw our arms around each other and sobbed.

The media just isn’t a reliable source for accurate information and full context. The AP is the largest news wire service in the world. The AP’s article on Spirit omits the Biden admin’s effort to block the merger with JetBlue. Their article on the FIFA incident has a false headline, omits that the Israeli participant was an Arab, and omits that the Palestinian rep was a convicted terrorist who threw a grenade. So how can anyone rely on such an organization for accurate information? They can’t. So they seek out other sources. Many of those sources are even worse, but the media’s constant omissions and misinformation caused this environment.
