Agree that traditional markets must be better regulated. I grew up next to one. HOWEVER live animals must be removed from these markets. Bats, pangolins, civets, raccoon dogs are NOT « traditional »foods. Traditions can’t b an excuse when global health & trillions of $ at stake.
Peter Ben Embarek@Peterfoodsafety

Traditional food markets can and should be better regulated, better managed and better resourced. They provide fresh and affordable food for millions. They can be made safe. #Covid_19 #COVID19 #foodsafety @FAOWHOCodex @WHO @FAO

The mult-tiered social life of female African elephants is based on relationships that radiate from an individual and her immediate offsprings through other family, bond, clan, sub-population members to the whole population. #SaveTheElephants #ProtectTheElephants

"It may have started with a bat in a cave, but human activity set it loose. We cut the trees; we kill the animals or cage them & send them to markets. We disrupt ecosystems, shaking viruses loose from their natural hosts. When that happens, they need a new host. Often, we're it."
