@mlalcalde I had to look up what "ethnographic methods" was about lol

@LinkedInHelp is there a problem with your sign up page? I've been trying to create an account and keep getting a "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again." message. Have tried different browsers and computers.

@JuanLRodrigue10 I’ve been keeping off twitter as much as possible for quite a while now, and I guess I’ve lost some of my cultural fluency :)
English

@JuanLRodrigue10 Fair enough. I was thinking/writing with the anthropologist hat on because it was you who tweeted it. I wouldn’t have made that argument with other audiences. But I get your point about Twitter.
English

@JuanLRodrigue10 I’m sure you have seen that too and hopefully can see how the phrase “it’s different” should not be thrown away with the proverbial bath water.
English

@JuanLRodrigue10 Yes yes, I know that’s not what you mean. I agree with you 100% that Venezuelans too often say/imply that racism in Venezuela is “less bad” and that has to stop. My point is about the also too common application of US-centric logics and models of race/racism to Venezuelan society
English

@JuanLRodrigue10 Wholesale transplantation of models of how racism (or any other social phenomenon) looks and operates from, say, the US context to Venezuela is not good intellectual practice and it’s potentially harmful for the cause of justice. I’d even say that it’s intellectual colonialism.
English

@JuanLRodrigue10 Without meaning to undermine your point here, may I defend the phrase ‘is different’? Racism is different, not just in Venezuela, but in every context in which it exists. More importantly, understanding those differences is crucial if we want to tackle the problem effectively.

It’s not been the easiest time to launch a new research unit! But really proud of the team that have created @LSE_RGS and the work we’re doing on how #COVIDー19 is impacting religious cohesion in London and worldwide #LSEthinks #interfaith lse.ac.uk/rgs

This is a devastating blow to freedom of information in Venezuela, as this was the only satellite tv service and allowed access to international media anywhere in the country, including remote areas where even state-controlled tv doesn’t reach.

This is shocking!
But also important. What other films if the last 20 years have helped feed our hacker culture?

One would think that endorsing a Health Ministry who has systematically withheld epidemiological information and doesn't even share general mortality figures would be something WHO's director would think twice before doing. Hard to take WHO seriously with this guy heading it.

My thanks to Carlos Alvarado Gonzalez, 🇻🇪 Health Minister, for sharing #Venezuela's staged approach for fighting #COVID19: before and after cases, comprehensive measures to identify and control these, and educating and informing the public.

@JuanLRodrigue10 @jguaido That’s truly awful. And yes, unbelievable levels of recklessness and/or naïveté. Thanks Juan!
English

@JuanLRodrigue10 @jguaido Juan, I’ve been having a really hard time keeping up with this whole debacle (on top of everything else!). Why do say this? What has come out about Guaidó’s involvement? (Not doubting you, just interested in looking at the stuff)

@mlalcalde @Sojon Hey Miguel! Feliz año! Viste el documental de los Beastie Boys?

@Sojon epa Sojón! Tienes algún catálogo online de fotos tuyas de Caracas (en baja resolución)? Es para para usarlas de background en mis reuniones en Zoom/Teams? :)
