@Monopotandpan @TaiwanFreedom89 Taiwan has never declared formal independence. If it did Beijing would have no choice but to attack. The United States would like for Taiwan to do so. But they are not so foolish. They don't want to be a proxy war for the US and end up like Ukraine.

@Salem_GeorgeJ @PamphletsY No healthcare for unemployed people. Again. What a stupid system. It also makes it difficult for people to change jobs. Why tie healthcare to jobs? It's also insanely expensive and getting worse everyday. We pay more and we get less than other countries.

You don't know if they will later cure cancer or write a symphony like mozart. Or even if they will save your own life

@Salem_GeorgeJ @PamphletsY At a certain age you will be eligible for Medicare. It's an extremely popular government program. Do you support expanding Medicare by lowering the age requirement? It's nice that you will get the benefit, but everyone else is screwed without the age req. being lowered.

@Monopotandpan @TaiwanFreedom89 Taiwan is a separatist province kept in existence by the United States. No one recognizes Taiwan. Not even the United States. The reality is that the United States will not fight China over Taiwan. If we did we would lose. Taiwan is only 60 miles from China.

The Korean War will start to get more of the attention it deserves if it actually centers its history on the Koreans themselves, rather than either the Americans or the Chinese, who for all intents and purposes are rather large footnotes compared to the bulk of the war being politically, militarily, and economically waged by the Korean people themselves.

The Korean War does not nearly enough attention that it deserves. The US and it's allies successfully defended South Korea's independence from North Korea and China and halted the spread of communism on the Korean peninsula.
