Fans of @InterMiamiCF being shocked that when the club has spent next to no money on the defense and instead rely on three academy/draft players that the team can’t stop goals against

If Inter Miami comes away from this with either Marcelo Gallardo or Xavi as their manager, everyone should be thrilled.

@ScottyGrays I see the logic in your thoughts here. But there is one thing playing with Messi, another managing him. I will be shocked if it's not a more known name from over seas

Inter Miami clearly valued signing MLS proven players this winter: DSC, Ayala, Micael, even failed bids at Bouanga and Blackmon. At least worth considering that that might extend to their coaching search as well.

@FrancoPanizo @KLVsays 100% agree. Mascherano had all season to realize this and never did. He only did it after Nashville forced it and the entire league saw the results ... No way you can give him any credit for this.

@KLVsays He only pulled the plug once he saw how well the team played without him — a direct result of Nashville SC’s request to have Suarez suspended. Not sure I give Mascherano that much merit for it.

Javier Mascherano is out as Inter Miami head coach. The team is saying he is leaving for “personal reasons” — which coincidentally was same as what was said officially when Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino departed previously. #InterMiamiCF #Messi

Javier Mascherano has decided to bring his tenure as Head Coach to an end. A champion who, together with his staff, will always be part of the @InterMiamiCF family and forever linked to our first star. 🔗 intermiamicf.co/wf23f

I’ve been strong in the opinion the #usmnt needs a US born coach…And the lack of any passion and drive on the pitch or in the technical area further proved that today. Probably too late to do anything about it but it’s clear current leadership doesn’t have passion for this job

Is the issue for @InterMiamiCF still the defense when now it’s the defenders being the goal scorers too???

@FrancoPanizo This team has consistently struggled to have an attack. But the complaint has always been on the defense. Three seasons of the same problems with the same complaints...

I call bullshit. Inter Miami gave up ONE total goal in two games vs Nashville SC. That should be enough to put you in a position to advance. But they didn’t because the attack couldn’t produce more than a solitary goal. The problem right now is the attack, not the defense.

@FrancoPanizo Our defense for inter miami is so fuckin ass it's embarrassing

@IMCFTraveller The team still hasen't had a multi trophy season (as was promised to the fans). Winning multiple trophies would save the season

Nothing. This season is a failure. Champions Cup was the last thing Miami needed to win to justify the massive investment - they’ve won Supporters Shield, MLS Cup, Leagues Cup. Regional dominance was all that was left and this was a “all chips in” type squad & season.
Inter Miami News Hub@Intermiamicfhub

🚨Morning thoughts after a difficult night — Inter Miami will definitely get better as the season progresses, but with the primary objective of CONCACAF Champions Cup gone this early into the season, what will make 2026 a success for them? 👀💗🖤

@XGLAVOZ Be careful... the masses want to blame the least expensive and versatile players the team has... Is he perfect - far from it. But he has consistenly done what he has needed to do at a price the team can afford ...

Definition of Irony. Nashville saved Mascheranos job last year by getting Suarez suspended. And now this year may cost him his job... What the soccer gods giveth... they can take away @InterMiamiCF

@DiceElDani @CowboyRuud1021 Last night I saw Messi not just attacking, but putting serious effort in defensive moments. So while I'd want to actually defend his play (which I am not known for doing)... he is Captain.. he sets the tone.. the lack of urgency that ultimately cost the game falls on him as well

THE COLLAPSE IS COMPLETE. INTER MIAMI IS OUT. Even Messi’s historic 900th career goal wasn’t enough to save a team that looked lost when it mattered most. After the early spark, we saw the same old story: stale, horizontal football, zero chance creation, and a lack of urgency that is frankly insulting to the fans. Nashville played the perfect series and deserved to advance. Period. This elimination is a collective failure. Nobody gets a pass: 🔹 Jorge Mas: For overhyping this competition all offseason and selling the fans a dream that the reality on the pitch couldn't match. 🔹 The Front Office: For failing to build a roster deep enough to actually compete for continental silverware. 🔹 Mascherano: For failing to find a tactical solution over 180 minutes against a team they should be beating. 🔹 The Players: Ultimately, they are on the pitch. The lack of bite and the "safe" passing was unacceptable in a win-or-go-home scenario. The "favorites" tag means nothing if you don't have the heart to back it up. Everyone needs to look in the mirror today. #InterMiamiCF #CCCA26 #Messi #NashvilleSC #DiceElDani #MLS #Concacaf

@ScottyGrays 3 years now and the underlying issue is consistent attack. Yet everyone wants to say the teams problem is the back line. New year but same problem....

Inter Miami’s three goalscorers combined for 94!!! goals last year and our game plan was to score one and sit back with 1,000 back passes and see out 80 minutes up 1-0. If I didn’t know everything that I do about Mascherano, I wouldn’t believe that was real.

1 goal against in a two match series - defense did its job. 1 goal for - attack isn’t good enough Simple as that for @InterMiamiCF

With no away goals last night. @InterMiamiCF must win next week. Any draw above 0-0 ends up with Miami out.... (Assuming the rules haven't changed since last year)
