Met Gala 2026 “Costume Art” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art @ludovicdesaintsernin @chopard This look is inspired by my devotion to the Virgin of Fátima. The softness of the figure and the light blue tones that define her image become the foundation of the piece, translating spirituality into couture. It features Ludovic’s signature eyelets and lacing, hand-painted to blend into the pale blue of the garment. The cups are made entirely from French blue lace, woven on traditional Leavers looms in Calais-Caudry, giving the fabric a fluid, almost weightless quality. A sheer veil completes the look, finished with hand-embroidered lace flowers. Hidden inside the dress, placed next to my heart, two phrases are hand-embroidered in Spanish: “Donde ella está, el alma encuentra refugio” and “Y líbranos del mal amén.” These words act as a private prayer, carried within the piece. The look is accompanied by a custom rosary, conceived as both jewel and relic. Crafted in white gold and set with diamonds and pearls, it is engraved with the names of my family members—transforming it into an intimate object of devotion. The rosary extends the narrative of the look, where personal faith and exceptional craftsmanship meet. In the context of fashion as art, the look reflects how faith, like art, can be expressed through form, detail, and emotion.
