What if Vaadin 25's JSON changes didn't require a new major version of your add-on? We built a helper that keeps JSON code working across Vaadin 14–25. Here's how flowingcode.com/en/vaadin-25-h…

My problem with this take is he assumes code is the bottleneck. It’s not. You can already build half of SaaS today if you really want to. The reason people buy software isn’t because they can’t code it. It’s because they don’t want their entire company brain to be a DIY project. Focus > reinventing every wheel. Vibe coding is/will make building easier, sure... but it won’t magically give teams the discipline, maintenance, and product thinking required to keep that thing alive once it exists. Building is cheap. Owning is expensive.

@HarryStebbings Vibe coding a fun side project? Sure. Vibe coding a mission-critical SaaS with compliance, uptime, security, and constant updates… just to save a tiny subscription fee? Businesses pay for peace of mind and not buttons and dashboards.

I've never understood the absolutism on this subject. I have worked on many applications where ORM avoided a ton of error-prone boilerplate, with excellent performance. I also like SQL & think there's a place for stored procedures. ORM is not a magic bullet. But it has a place
Daniel 🦔@DanielW_Kiwi

I still don't like ORMs. Not once have I felt that the added complexity was worth it. Why write linq queries when you have SQL? The useful bit is turning your results into records / object but that's easy to do by hand. I don't understand why the industry likes ORMs?

Yep, society is screwed. Our pipeline into experienced skill coders and software architects is drying up, mostly based on misguided takes that overvalue what vibe coding can actually do. We are winding up with more bad (“spaghetti”) code that is difficult to debug and maintain, and fewer talented, experienced software architects. Students no longer want to learn the craft, because they believe wrongly that they will no longer be needed. In a few years, we will have a mess.
Rahil Lee@lee_rahil

@Jocelynbeard @GaryMarcus I am a total novice w.r.t coding. But if companies remove all the entry level coders and have AI do coding with experts doing debugging, how exactly do they think the experts became experts? Without staring as new programmers, learning from experience, mistakes

At @devnexus, one common question we got at the booth was: "can we customize @vaadin to match our company look and feel?" I had some time at the booth so I decided to create an AI utility that creates a Vaadin theme based on an image, like a screen shot of your home page ✨
