Lots being made of Cale Makar’s play on the game winner for USA. 3-on-3 hockey is all about making quick decisions between coverage and offensive risks. Makar chose risk it by going for a poke check. Had he been successful he and McDavid would have had a 2-on-0. Second risk was the get back. Do we want to see him back check and effect Hughes shot? Well yeah now that we know it went in lol. Makar was coasting and risking thinking MacKinnon won the puck and he’d be on a clean break. Went risk to risk and got burned. Hockey. #GoAvsGo
