@ByChrisMurray Honest question. Don’t these officials work several different leagues? And if they do, which I know they do, then when they ref a MW game, is there some “directive” from the league to officiate them differently than when they ref other league’s games?

My biggest gripe about Mountain West basketball, which is great, has always been the officiating, which is not great. Make teams win the game from anywhere but the free throw line.

MWC officials simply allow for no flow to a game…in Friday’s 4 QF games, refs whistled a total of 173 fouls (43.25 per game). The Big 10 (122 fouls in 4 games), Big East (130), Big 12 (137), ACC (138) and SEC (147) called an average of 33.7 fouls per game. Ten fewer…Not good.

@achristovichh @hmckee53 Completely ridiculous in 2026 that there is widespread hate-filled chants against a religion/ people. Multiple different campuses, over multiple sports. Seems insane to me and that to a large extent this continues to be basically ignored.

Owyhee loses in the championship. My wife said, “we did it”. The “we” is a team that we didn’t know the mascot 2 hours ago. Anyone but Owyhee basketball is a win. Great night

@MrIdahoPreps @DrEricDiamond There’s a reason that at that game 90% of the spectators not related to Owyhee were going for the team from up north, and it wasn’t just because they were the underdogs

@MrIdahoPreps @DrEricDiamond I don’t really want to go back and forth. And I don’t want to call out high school kids. But you should do a little research on Owyhee’s roster the past few years. Where they actually live, how they’re getting recruited etc. High school should be different than college imo

@MrIdahoPreps Doesn’t prevent kids from playing?I personally know a few families whose kids go to Owyhee and are recruited over. I don’t agree with what they do whether it’s legal or in a super gray area. Therefore yeah, I didn’t want them to win. Just like 90% the rest of the state that knows

@mmoss_10 You can cheer for who you want. But saying it made your night is something else. Owyhee isn’t breaking any rules. The IDHSAA isn’t in the business of allowing that. But I can also tell you several other programs who’ve done similar things. This doesn’t prevent kids from playing.
