Carlos Mendoza says the Mets did not consider intentionally walking Nico Hoerner in the 10th inning: "In that situation, especially with Hoerner, you put him at first base, they're going to take second base there. You know there's a contact situation there but then they got some of their best hitters coming up after that, too. No, I was just going right after him."

This #Mets team is what happens when a so-called genius uses 100% analytics to put it together. That is why Stearns will never win a World Series. There’s more to putting a team together than just using analytics.

I genuinely cannot believe how terrible the #Mets are right now. I’m also done with the stats, done with the moral victories, done with people speaking on their behalf about how good this is, and how much better that is. They’ve lost 10 in a row and look seriously incompetent.

Nobody likes to lose but I saw some “ green shoots tonight “. On offense, Lindor had two hits including a home run. Bichette got a double hitting it to left field as opposed to recently being right field prone. Benge got a solid hit. Soto started his running progression today. Semien hit a shot that might have been a home run on a warmer night. Finally, Nolan McLean pitched an outstanding game going 7 innings. Hang in there fans, we will turn this around !

@GiraffeNeckMarc There’s plenty of managers and players that were great that didn’t win a WS.. he was manager of the year 4 times and highly regarded in the baseball world. My point is that Mendoza shows none of the same passion as those two guys and imo, that’s a big issue

I seriously have no idea how many more games Carlos Mendoza has left as Mets manager. They fired his coaches, they got rid of almost all the players and yet the same problems continue.

@TalkinMetsNoG Just cause other teams fans aren’t passionate and go with everything doesn’t mean Mets fans should. When the team is this embarrassing for so long, it’s appropriately justified to express concerns when we all invest time and money into them yearly

I am sorry, the Mets fan base is what is embarrassing. Nothing that this team does on the field will usurp how lame this fan base is. A good chunk is uneducated about the game and as emotional as a high school teenager. Dark days with the fans - not sure it’s fixable

@GiraffeNeckMarc He’s recognized as one of the great managers of the game.. He was only with the Mets for two years, and one of which he won over 100 games. How is he not good

@mmullen97 Buck Showalter’s team collapsed in September and got knocked out of the WC round. The next year they underperformed massively, when was he good?
