Jann Arden is the Canadian version of Rosie O'Donnell

One lesson of the Trump years: the US signature on an international agreement is worthless. There was an agreement in place to govern the bridge. Trump repudiated the agreement at behest of a donor with a direct anti-public-interest stake.

This is how they manufacture “public opinion.” They tell you “60% of Canadians think Mark Carney is doing a great job handling the economy.” What they don’t tell you? That “60% of Canadians” was actually **60% of roughly 1,051 people** polled by Nanos. One thousand people FFS 🤦🏻♂️ That’s not a national sample! That’s a focus group. At best they cherry-pick respondents who lean their way. At worst they just run the numbers until they get the headline they want. Meanwhile the real numbers are brutal: - 2 in 5 Canadians are struggling to put food on the table - 40% are losing sleep over how they’ll make ends meet - 60% feel anxiety when thinking about their personal finances But sure… tell us again how 1,051 carefully selected people speak for 41 million Canadians. ❌ This isn’t polling ♻️ This is narrative management dressed up as news! 🛑 Stop falling for it! #cdnpoli #MediaBias #Carney #PollingScam #CanadaFirst

PM defends bridge deal - the optics aren’t great, obviously. But, from the critics, what would you have done differently? Suppose we could have kept it shut and waited to see if midterm pressure might have softened Trump’s demands, but it would be generate 0 revenue in that case

Here are some of the details on what Canada had to give up to open the Gordie Howe Bridge, as per a Canadian government source. For the first 15 years, Canada gets 50% of toll profits and the other 50% goes into a regional "economic development fund." What that fund does and who runs, is not clear Under the previous agreement, Canada was to receive 100% of toll profit until they were made whole on the $6.4B they spent to build the bridge, which Michigan/the US contributed $0. The agreement also says it could be 50+ years before Canada was whole, that timeline is now longer. The Americans will have to agree if Canada wants to increase the bridge tolls by more than 10%, or lower them below compared regional averages. That clause helps out the owners of the Ambassador Bridge, the Maroun family, who have donated to the Trump administration and previously to US ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra, to try and stop the new bridge from opening #cdnpoli

A "Brampton man", Guramrit Sidhu, 63 has been sentenced to 20 years in U.S. federal prison for leading a criminal organization that trafficked drugs worth up to $17 million US into Canada. Thoughts on what kind of sentence he would have gotten if Canadian authorities had charged him? cbc.ca/news/canada/to…
