Congratulations to Prior Lake High School student Obioma Osuji for being named a recipient of MSBA’s 2026 Robert E. Meeks Student School Board Member Scholarship! MSBA President Kristi Peterson and MSBA Executive Director Kirk Schneidawind presented the award during the Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board meeting on Monday, May 4. All the green votes mean the House unanimously passed HF3900. The bill is up on the Senate floor next.

The Permanent School Fund Constitutional Amendment bill (HF3900) is on the floor now. Passage of this bill moves us one step closer to increasing the distribution of funds to Minnesota’s public school students.

MSBA Executive Director Kirk Schneidawind testified on SF 2909 on Tuesday, April 28, during a Minnesota Senate Commerce and Consumer Protection Committee hearing. This bill creates the Educator Group Insurance Program (EGIP) and dissolves the Public Employee Insurance Program (PEIP), and allows its members to move to EGIP. A bill (HF4114) to repeal the $250 million contingent cuts to special education unanimously passed the House Education Finance Committee this afternoon. It will move on to the House Ways and Means Committee.

This morning MSBA joined with other education organizations to support one-time school safety aid. We appreciate the per-pupil fairness, local flexibility and broad support for student well-being.
