Are there any recent studies that prove impact of NB certification on student achievement? Some links in the impact flyer are broken and others are older. Anyone have newer studies to reference? @NBPTS

@Science_Coach If your library doesn't have the book you want, ask about borrowing from another library through inter-library loans! #nstachat

@patty_mcginnis A5: ELA teachers on your team/grade level may be able to give you ideas for poetry or short stories that address science concepts. #nstachat

A5: Work with your grade level partners who teach reading or English. You might get some great ideas for using literature in your science classroom, and even come up with a cross-curricular unit. Don’t be afraid to try something new! #NSTAchat

@patty_mcginnis A5: Enlist support from ELA teachers. These teachers are often able to easily switch out texts they are currently using with something that would help support your needs in the science classroom. #nstachat

Conundrum: There is no better way to understand students than to read their writing, but teachers are given too many students so reading the papers wears them out. Truthfully, I should look forward to reading their papers, but sometimes I am in serious avoidance mode.

"Missouri has switched assessments four times in five years for mostly political reasons, forcing state education officials to release test scores with a disclaimer that year-over-year comparisons aren’t possible with “apples to oranges” data." tinyurl.com/y8cdq35o

Class size really matters in a workshop-model classroom. Huge difference between trying to confer with 20 students vs trying to confer w 38.
