What was the wettest/driest month of 2020 in your backyard? Of course, the answer to this is heavily influenced by seasonal weather patterns and local geography. Yet, we can still see significant intraannual variability and distinct spatial patterns in southeast precip last year.

18z HRRR continues to show significant freezing rain accrual. With temps well below freezing roads will ice up pretty quickly this evening/tonight. Make sure you are where you want to be in the next couple of hours. Avoid travel if you can.

@EFisherWX As someone who lived on the hill above Thompson St for the last couple of years. I was stunned when I walked down to River Mills lofts and walked along what was left of the road the day after Helene. I didn’t know if it would ever come back.

I drove Thompson St near Biltmore Village today for the first time since Helene. Pictures and videos don’t do the damage justice—it’s unbelievable. With the recent project completion upriver and a beautiful week on tap, I expect we’ll see a ton of work get done there this week!

I’ve had a few people reach out asking for an interview or updates. Similar to Helene, everyone on our road is without power and I have very limited service. Fire continues to spread. 0% contained and more than 150 acres burned. Multiple mandatory evacuations underway.
