Can you see that building in East London? It’s the old SNM office from the 1980s and 1990s, where great SNM leaders like Ahmed Siilanyo, Abdirahman Tuur, and others -AHUN- used to gather every day. They had neither money nor military power to achieve their goal, only hope. In the end, they succeeded in liberating their country.

When I visited Somaliland I was greatly impressed by the efforts the SL Govt is making in combatting cheetah trafficking and providing a sanctuary for rescued cheetahs. For a poor nation to use its own resources on protecting its wildlife is admirable! lemonde.fr/en/internation…

In 2026, should Somaliland really be celebrating a partially corrected Google maps update which we’ve seen happen before? Time and again we get caught up with symbolic issues which focus on the symptom & not the underlying cause. Let’s not lose sight of the prize. We must stay disciplined & focused on the only objective that addresses the root cause, not just its symptoms: Re-Recognition.

Here is one of my latest articles. The title speaks for itself. It is a sobering reminder that our country's problems are our responsibility. No one else can help us. The future is in our hands if good Somalis become united with Allah's guidance. Bless the committed, Aamiin. pambazuka.org/index.php/AU-S…

These Turkish commentators used to be critical of #Somaliland. What has changed in their perspective? Or is there a specific reason behind it, especially with a program titled “Will the Red Sea burn too after Basra?

If even the wealthy Gluf states with billions in weapons, US bases, and western security grantees are feeling shockwaves of this war and feeling insecure , what chance do tiny separatist project have to offer? Entities that can’t even secure bread and almost 80% of population are below poverty line, they mistake fantasy for reality. Maybe be, this war will be a good lesson for you @mobsiye Ramadan wanaagsan Caqliga ha shaqeeyo walaalayaal.

Washington: Move Al Udeid Air Base and the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet to Berbera. As Gulf tensions rise, relying on unpredictable partners is a strategic risk. The Republic of Somaliland offers: • Strategic base access at the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, gateway to the Red Sea and Suez Canal • Critical minerals: lithium, gold, beryllium, copper • Exclusive energy: oil and gas exploration and offshore blocks The geography is ready. The infrastructure is ready. The partnership is ready. The invitation stands.

Mixed feelings: fond memories overshadowed by the brutalities of Siyad Barre’s regime. Only 3 in that picture I’m aware are still around, not sure about the lot of the rest as a year later, May 1988, a new beginning was set.

Criticism is the price of greatness, and silence is the proof of irrelevance, if many hate you, you are shaking the world; if no one speaks of you, you have left no mark on it. #Somaliland is doing something great!

Whether you agree or disagree with him, @RAbdiAnalyst is a formidable Horn of African analyst. I wish him well.
Zak@Sland1960

Big respect to @RAbdiAnalyst for his unwavering, razor-sharp advocacy for Somaliland's right to self-determination and recognition. Your consistent voice against AU bias, fear-mongering narratives, and for inclusive state-building inspires so many. Thank you, Rashid, for standing with the people of Somaliland and those fighting for justice across the Horn.
