A BIG draw for me in an animation career was the idea of working in a studio environment and having access to skilled people and established knowledge, tools, and pipelines, and I think we could be using skills we've built in the industry to help each other operate on our own

Fantasizing about, in some small way, helping people make things they're proud of and being able to say no to subpar pay and conditions because they're getting that fulfillment already in a dedicated hobby project space without solely relying on it for a paycheck, I guess

MAN I would love to see the animation industry pick back up eventually, but everything is cuts and huge mergers, rehashes of the same old IPs...I'm kinda convinced we need to see a larger number of artists forming smaller collectives to make things now, especially as a hobby

@Sproutlines The worst part maybe is telling people at your soul-sucking retail jobs (yes, plural) what you got laid off from almost a year ago and they ask you why you haven't just found more work yet☠️

ANYWAY retail isn't great but I AM stockpiling some good stories at my different current jobs. I haven't even mentioned the guy at the water garden supply store who came in and dropped like 6k on giant ceramic orb statues

So I picked up a part-time as a liquor store cashier and it's like, A Lot clientele wise, right-- some people are sweet and some are just weird or mean or really high, whatever. My very first day I'm training and hearing about all the Regulars, who range from normal to Uh Oh
