speaking of, is there anything wrong with Modrinth? there must be something! i had a 10+ year break from minecraft and had to relearn how to manage a modded client last year, which is when i found Modrinth. it's so good????? clean, pretty, fast, stable, no bullshit! very open, has APIs for pretty much anything (you can fetch their daily ad revenue with it!) . works on windows, linux, macOS. comes in nixpkgs. i submitted some mods and they scanned them automatically + reviewed manually before publishing (hey vscode marketplace whats up??) why? what's the catch? a commercial software product like this is not possible in 2026. is there some secret sauce that makes your product immune to bullshit? trans women on the team?

@retrievaaaa @juniperadev revenue on Modrinth is distributed based on completely different metrics, that's why you'll see some mods reporting much higher revenue on Modrinth, and others say they get way more on CurseForge

@juniperadev huh? curseforge paid me 20x more at 8x the downloads compared to modrinth about 250$ at 650k downloads cf, 12$ at 75k downloads on modrinth. i am assuming it scales differently for massively popular mods and packs?

Fuck CurseForge. We are removing our mod from CurseForge immediately, for the following reasons (as well as *more* that I just didn't get to).

@UnusualSquad @MorenCubed @meowkoteeq it's both! we have an in-house automated detector that flags suspicious files, and flagged content is reviewed by a our dedicated technical review staff to determine if it's a false positive or not before the project page itself is reviewed.

@MorenCubed @meowkoteeq The approval time is for moderators to check modpages, not for malware, as it's a few minute automatic check. The reason is that they are a smaller team, and it's a valid reason, but it still is a thing.
