6 years ago today I lost my pops. We had such a turbulent relationship but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. We went years without talking + he wasn’t around when I was a young kid growing up, but he was somehow always my best friend. I was literally his twin. He was a true 1 of 1 in this world. He wore Levi’s, a leather jacket, + boots everyday of his life…there wasn’t a room he walked in that didn’t remember him. He really was meant for so much more, but a life of chaos had different plans for him. I think about him everyday + he somehow comes up in so many conversations cuz there really just was no one like him. I know he would be proud of my sobriety + that I’m making rock n roll music. I really do feel his energy with me everywhere. He always wanted me to ride a motorcycle like him + finally last year I got one. I rode around for him today + smiled + laughed about the good times we had. I love u pops…always n forever. Miss you like crazy…now lemme go listen to your favorite Allman Brothers songs on full volume.

If yall have any time today or an extra $30 in your pocket… It would be awesome if u go support a local record shop. Vinyls are so close to my heart + I think it’s so important to support the local people keeping this art alive…yes, it’s on the upswing again + become much more popular, but there were literally decades where it was dying + they somehow kept their doors open because of pure passion for music. Anyways, today is national record store day…good day to start or add to a vinyl collection. LOVE!

It’s so crazy to think that one late night drive where you decide to do something will change the course of your entire life.

Also…guitar solos + bands performing with no back track or click track is about to make a major comeback in the next 2 years of music. Guaranteed.

Watching The Strokes at Coachella… It’s so refreshing to see a band talk in between songs. Julian’s banter is clearly unrehearsed + stream of thought which means a lot of it doesn’t land with the crowd…BUT that’s because a crowd has become so accustomed to hearing the same speech over n over OR no talking at all. Too many big artists are creating shows where they bleed every track into each other seamlessly…which in theory sounds great…BUT it takes all the human out of it. I’d rather hear a crowd go silent + seem a little awkward in between songs then watch a completely choreographed set that you know the artist has every move + speech planned. We need more real moments more than ever. Interested to hear the reception of The Strokes set cuz there’s a good chance people will say it was boring or stale or something when in all reality it was the realest set performed on main stage this year…as of right now. Bieber is next + I have high hopes he is gonna give a show FULL of real moments.

Regulating your nervous system is one of the most overlooked hacks in life. I’m pretty sure all you gotta do is SLOW DOWN. Be honest with yourself…how much time do you actually save by rushing things? Like everyday things… Shower slower, brush your teeth slower, start your morning slower, shave slower, eat slower, walk slower, drive slower…legit everything just a lil slower. For me, life felt better overnight once I did this. I finally felt completely comfortable in my skin + just overall got so much more natural high from life. Calm nervous system = happiness.

For 2 years I was very indecisive about life…I wasn’t excited about the future, I was very unsure about many things. Fear was creeping into my mentality everyday. BUT…I stayed consistent in my belief something good was coming. I prayed, I worked, I studied, + I remained patient. Then one day, as if out of nowhere, everything clicked into place. It felt like I was handed a blessing for treating my valleys like peaks. Now, where I am today…it’s the opposite of everything I was feeling for so long…+ it really can change just like that.
