I was Webflow's biggest fanboy. Now, I moved everything off it.
In 2019 I opened Webflow and built two sites in one weekend.
I'm a software architect. I spent years writing CSS by hand and debugging animations. Suddenly here's a tool where animations took minutes instead of days. And the CMS blew my mind. Create a collection, link it wherever you want, hit publish. It felt like flying.
One of those weekend sites was fontinlogo[.]com. It went viral and still gets almost 1M visits a year.
So we went all in. 230+ templates, 7 apps in the marketplace, more than a dozen products of our own, a team of 25. The logic was simple. If Webflow grows, we grow with it.
That works, until it doesn't.
Running tens of platforms means every small improvement gets repeated. That's not work, it's a tax. And new clients had to learn our system AND Webflow, pay for both, and people got lost before they even started.
And while we were clicking through panels, AI was rewriting what building even means. Describe the thing, get the thing. Webflow wasn't playing that game.
So this year we made a bet. Put AI at the center of everything, and make building and publishing happen in one place.

Nothing broke. Every page, every CMS collection linked exactly like before, every image, every word.
One extra prompt turned our custom animations into native GSAP.
So we migrated all 12 platforms. And we got faster. Marketing ships 3-5x quicker because they design in Figma and pages just get implemented.
Then it got weird.
I was in a meeting and someone pitched an idea. I opened my phone, hit the mic, spoke the idea, locked the phone and kept talking with him. Few minutes later my phone buzzed. Done. I opened the link and asked, is this what you meant?
He was in shock. And watching his face I realized I got used to this. He was seeing it for the first time. What felt normal to me was not normal at all.
Now, I build 3 to 5 sites a day now. Some become products. Some make money.
Going back to writing CSS by hand and checking pages one by one? That's owning a Ferrari and choosing to walk.
So yes, I'm done with Webflow. With real gratitude. It took me from a weekend experiment to a 25 person company.
But the founders left. Even the co-founder who built the webflow architecture is building a competitor now. The pricing drifted to where the only ones who can afford to stay are the ones who can most afford to leave.
Every tool has its era. Holding on after it ends isn't loyalty, it's drag.
