When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US. France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.) Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors. NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.

@FT I've said it for years that the FT has morally and intellectually collapsed. Third-world socialism has taken over the FT. No serious man should be reading this utter garbage if you want to stay true to reason and the objective world.

Trump finds himself in a strategic Zugzwang. Zugzwang: German for "compulsion to move". A chess term describing a position where a player is disadvantaged because they must make a move. Because all legal moves worsen their position or lead to a loss, the obligation to act causes a strategic disadvantage. Negotiate with Iran -> Iran demands removal of US bases in ME, recognised control over Hormuz, guarantees of no further attacks from Israel/USA. Would completely dismantle the ME alliance structure and make Iran a regional hegemony. Not an option. Attack Iran/Take Kharg -> Iran takes out critical infrastructure including E/W pipeline, continues to hold energy markets hostage. American troops die to FPV drones and missiles. Ultimately forces USA to commit even harder to a ground war, straining the budget, sending treasury yields and inflation up while oil forces the world into recession. "Declare victory and leave" w/o a ceasefire -> Iran continues to attack American bases and allies with impunity, allies cry for help, Israel likely forces an escalation. These are the three options Trump finds himself with, and each is worse than the other. This is why he is flip flopping every 24h. He is trying to find a way to extricate himself from a situation he doesn't want to believe is as bad as it is. Advisors convinced him it would be a quick victory and the regime would fall. Clearly things did not go to plan as Marines were not in place already. The civilian uprising failed, the Kurdish militia option failed. 13 American bases destroyed and USS Gerald Ford inoperable. He didn't trust or listen to the deep state experts who warned the plan would not work. No matter how much markets scream, there is literally no off-ramp for Trump here. Iran can inflict asymmetric damage to USA and are willing to endure a long war. For 40 years USA has tried to kill the regime but it still stands. They tried a killing blow and it failed. Whichever decision Trump makes now, though I believe he will choose a limited war (which eventually escalates), Hormuz will not be opening meaningfully for at least several months. Oil is going a lot higher, ie 150+. There will be several moments where it looks like US has had victory, or a ceasefire is close - but these attempts will ultimately fail. Time to get long and buckle up for the ride. See you on the other side if you can make it.🫡

The US and Russia ramp up pressure on Ukraine to withdraw from Donbas. Otherwise, Washington may walk away from talks and shift its focus entirely to Iran. Putin continues to insist on the agreements reached with Trump in Anchorage (where Ukraine was not even present, but Donbas apparently was promised to him) pravda.com.ua/news/2026/03/2…

Interesting buy/add opportunity in #Tankers imo. Rates are currently sky high to start with, but the near term is admittedly hard to predict. Med-long term though… Iranian oil exports likely go from black market trade to US controlled exports on compliant fleet. 1/n

@frankdan63 @Reka_Niewidka @stats_feed lol.. BS. More than 90% of EV owners in Norway say they will never go back to ICE cars. Also the tax benefits have been reduced significantly and will likely be phased out completely in a few years.

@Reka_Niewidka @stats_feed They don’t. Only reason for Norwegians to by the shit is the tax system. You’re ripped of comply if you don’t buy a battery car. Only reason, most people don’t want them, but there’s no real choice! Sorry, it’s the truth.

@TNiskakangas You need to look under the hood, mister. Unless you like socialism, nanny state politics, high taxes and climate change lunacy. It’s the 8th of March. So let’s look at private sector job creation for women. What country should absolutely not be at the very bottom?
