Mexican food in Europe is WILD. Not a jalapeño in sight at the grocery stores. My husband is half Mexican, and we are always hesitant to try European “Mexican” food, but one time we stopped in at this small restaurant called Fajitas down the street from our favorite hotel in Paris. We used to joke walking past it, assuming it would be TERRIBLE. Turns out it’s owned by a Mexican immigrant and his American wife. The food is really good, and authentic (although different from Tex-Mex, and certainly catered to a French crowd). Now we go at least once on most of our Paris trips. We chat with the owners for hours sometimes, which is always funny because he speaks French and Spanish, his wife and I speak English and French, and my husband speaks English and some Spanish.
