We share some slang with dominicans, hardly any with colombians or venezuelans. "Bicho: for example means dick here, but it's used in almost any other caribbean country as insect.

spanish is my first language but i have a caribbean accent so white students in class would complain i “wasn’t really speaking spanish” as the argentinian teacher would nod cause it was “uncivilized” and it took so long for me to realize that maybe that was kinda racist

In fact, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela are the regions that share the most linguistic characteristics among themselves, which is why they are often grouped together.

The "Caribbean accent" derives from the Canarian accent when they arrived in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. Most Caribbean people skip the S sounds and speak with high tones.
