From despair to hope! Josephine’s story reminds us that even in our darkest moments, God’s Word can bring light and peace. She shared, “Last month, I reached a breaking point and considered ending my life. But God had other plans. While scrolling through my phone, I stumbled upon your WhatsApp channel. The messages resonated with me, and I began to see things differently. I was struggling with the weight of my parents' sacrifices for my education, feeling overwhelmed by debt and unemployment. My mother was ill, and I felt helpless. But the Watoto Church messages brought me hope. I realized God knows my struggles and will provide in His time. I've learned to trust Him and not stress about the future. I encourage everyone to read 1 Peter 5:7 daily; it can bring peace and comfort. Thank you Watoto church for sharing God's word.” You are never alone. If you need someone to talk to or pray with, we’re here for you. Judiciary Uganda@JudiciaryUG

The Constitutional Court in Kampala has commenced a three-day session to handle 14 constitutional petitions and 11 constitutional applications, in a bid to address critical questions surrounding Uganda’s governance, human rights, and the balance of power. The session, which runs until June 13, is being presided over by a panel led by Deputy Chief Justice, Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija. Other members of the bench include Justices Fredrick Martin Stephen Egonda-Ntende, Oscar Kihika, Ketrah Kitariisibwa Katunguka, Florence Nakachwa, and John Mike Musisi. According to the Court’s Deputy Registrar, HW Mugala Jane, the petitions to be heard span a wide range of constitutional questions affecting public administration, legal processes, and fundamental rights. Among the notable cases is Dominic Mugerwa vs Attorney General & 4 Others*, where the petitioner is challenging the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Prosecution team’s multi-faceted role as complainant, investigator, and prosecutor. The petitioner claims this violates the constitutional guarantee of fair hearing and contradicts Articles 28(1), 120(5)(6), 211, and 212 of the Constitution. In another significant case, Kabanda David & 2 Others vs Attorney General, the petitioners fault the Government for failing to regulate the sale and promotion of unhealthy food and beverages near schools. They argue this omission violates the rights of children and contravenes Articles 8A, 20, 24, 34, and 45 of the Constitution. The court is also set to hear Aboneka Michael & Another vs Attorney General, a petition contesting the constitutionality of Article 113(1), which allows the President to appoint sitting Members of Parliament as Cabinet Ministers. The petitioners argue this undermines the doctrine of separation of powers and weakens legislative independence. In Kuuku Amos & 2 Others vs Attorney General, the petitioners are challenging provisions of the Magistrates Courts Act and the 2022 Constitution (Bail Guidelines) that allow courts to impose cash bail. They argue that such provisions violate constitutional guarantees to equality, liberty, and the presumption of innocence. The session will also hear Uganda Court Bailiffs Association Ltd vs Attorney General, a petition contesting the legality of the Judicature (Court Bailiffs) Rule 2022. The petitioners claim that the Rules were not properly gazetted or tabled before Parliament, thereby breaching Articles 1, 2, and 91 of the Constitution. This high-level sitting of the Constitutional Court reflects a renewed commitment to address pressing constitutional issues affecting governance and justice delivery. The outcomes from this session are expected to shape legal precedent and inform ongoing discussions on law reform and constitutionalism in Uganda

Holding On to Faith Ever felt like God is silent to your prayers? Don't lose hope! Dorothy's powerful testimony will inspire you to trust that God is always at work, even when it seems like He's not. Be encouraged to believe that God has good plans for your life and that His timing is perfect! A Prayer That Wasn't Answered, But Led to Divine Intervention "I'll never forget the prayer that wasn't answered... or so I thought! Last year, I desperately sought a job with a specific donor agency. After multiple promising interviews, I was convinced I'd land my 'dream job.' But it wasn't meant to be. I was heartbroken, crying out to God and questioning His plan. Little did I know, He was working behind the scenes. Later, I received shocking news: the agency was shutting down worldwide! If I had gotten the job, I'd have been jobless! Note that I had a very good job, but I wasn’t fulfilled. Looking back, I see God's goodness and protection. He saved me from uncertainty, even when I didn't understand His ways. I'm reminded that God works everything for the good of those who trust Him. His plans may not always make sense, but His love and care are always at work.” Let’s believe God to do more than we could ever imagine. Join us for an evening of Prayer & Worship tomorrow, Friday, March 28th, at 6:30 PM at Watoto Church Downtown, Ntinda, Kyengera, Nansana-Wakiso, Mbarara & Jinja, and online. #BoldStrongCourageous

When Joseph Kabila was 14 years old, Museveni became President of Uganda. Another 15 years later - in 2001 - Kabila went on to become President of the DRC, then aged just 29. He went on to serve for 18 years. At age 47 he handed over power to Felix Tshisekedi - 8 years his senior aged 55 then. Kabila has since done a Masters's Degree and is now defending his thesis for a PhD as Tshisekedi starts his second, and final term. Meanwhile, Museveni is still President of Uganda, and just today he promised to moved Uganda’s GDP from 50 to 500 billion dollars in ten years - something he has failed to do in 40 - which, as of today’s rate, would make Uganda the 31st richest country in the world and richest in Africa ahead of Nigeria, and Egypt. Isn't our God an amazing God?!

Meet 9-year old Asia, a beautiful gem in the Watoto Children’s Choir whose radiant spirit and confidence light up the stage. Rising from a tough beginning to becoming a lead soloist, Asia is now inspiring us with songs of hope in Jesus. Her heart-warming solo in the song "Confident" reflects her incredible transformation and the hope she now shares with the world. Asia is one of the stories of rescue that compose the heart and soul of the Better Days – There Is Hope production. Every child on the choir and in our Watoto homes has a story of love, grace, and the life-changing power of God, reminding us that even in the darkest moments, there is a promise of better days ahead. “I want all who attend the concert to give their lives to Jesus and leave with hearts brimming with joy,” Asia says. Catch her and the other children at the much anticipated launch of the Watoto Children Choir's newest production, Better Days – There Is Hope on Friday, 25 August, 6:30pm at Watoto Downtown. #BetterDays #WatotoChildrensChoir

To those who say Jesus never spoke about gender, sexuality or that marriage should only be between a man and a woman, I present to you Matthew 19:4-6. It’s clear here that Jesus believed that… ✅ God designed people to be one of two genders, male or female (“the Creator made them male and female.”) ✅ Marriage was designed to be between one man and one woman for one lifetime (“for this reason a man will leave his father and be united to his wife.”) ✅ Sex was to be enjoyed exclusively between a man and woman in the context of marriage (“the two will become one flesh.”) ✅ Divorce was never part of God’s plan (“Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”) Jesus had a lot to say about gender, sexuality and marriage. But many, even inside the church, don’t want to hear it.

Church history is littered with bad marriages. John Wesley—founder of the Methodist movement and one of the three key preachers in the First Great Awakening (along with George Whitefield and Jonathan Edwards)—had a notoriously bad marriage that was full of fights and fits. He and his wife, Molly, relentlessly insulted each other, and their arguments went from private to public. John thought Molly was a rebellious woman who should quietly wait for and on him. Molly was tired of being home alone while he was gone for months at a time on preaching trips. Once, in 1758, when John was preparing to go on another preaching tour, his parting words to her were: “I hope I shall see your wicked face no more.” Not quite pillow talk, Mr. Wesley. John and Molly separated again and again, until she finally left once and for all. He wrote in his journal, “Finally, she left for good. I did not forsake her, I did not dismiss her, I will not recall her.” This is sad indeed. A man who is considered by many to be the organizing force behind the First Great Awakening could not organize his life in such away as to prioritize his wife and could not bring a great awakening to his dead marriage. Wesley pathetically tried to excuse his long absences and cold demeanor behind a ministry mantra: “for the sake of the cause.” According to Robert Southey, in his book The Life of John Wesley, Wesley compared his own ministry impact with the impact of his wife’s life with these cut-to-the-heart words, “…of what importance is your character to mankind? If you were buried just now, or if you had never lived, what loss would it be to the cause of God.” Ouch. Tragically, Wesley is not the only man of God to have a marriage ruled by the Devil. And this is not true just of church history—it’s true all across the world in many churches today. It was true in my marriage early on. For the first several years of my marriage, I was busy preaching at my church on Sunday and leading Dare 2 Share the rest of the week. When I wasn’t on the road or in the office, I came home to collapse on the couch and watch television. I, like Wesley, subconsciously excused my lameness in loving my wife and leading my marriage on busyness with “the greater cause” of Christ. Then one night, it all blew up in my face when our argument spilled over into public, literally during a Bible study. I’ll spare you the gory details, but I ended up in the fetal position in the middle of the Bible study circle, crying unconsolably for 30 minutes. Why? Because I knew she was right and I was wrong. I was a jerk! I hadn’t been paying attention to her and her needs. I had been pulling a Wesley, “for the sake of the cause.” I wanted my wife Debbie to just suck it up so I could go on the road and save lost souls. It was my soul that needed to be saved, not from the flames of Hell, but from the ice-coldness of a marriage on life-support. That moment marked a turnaround point—not an immediate, full 180, but more like a Wall Street graph headed in the right direction. Yes, there have been—and continue to be—ups and downs. But my wife is the love of my life, and we’ve now been co-laboring side-by-side for, as of yesterday, 33 years! Now we’re together “for the sake of the cause.” Busyness from saving souls and leading ministries is not a good excuse for a bad marriage. Instead, our marriages should be a shining example of the Gospel, full of forgiveness, reconciliation and on-going transformation because of the example of Christ on the cross and power that comes through His Spirit.
