Simply finding himself all alone, with no human home to go to anymore. While he's waiting for new pet parents to fall in love with him, he's adjusting well at the Care Center. Springtime is a shy, calm, quiet youngster who shows interest in the humans who drop by to coax him out of his shell. When I met him last night, he was sitting on top of his cat den, observing me with soft blinks and seemingly unbothered by the sights and sounds of the cat adoption room. Springtime has been enjoying his treats and accepting some pettings, but what he really needs is a new person to come by and declare, "you're going home with me!" Make it happen for this good boy by introducing yourself to him at the Care Center today! Springtime tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. I have lived with cats in my previous home. I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. Hi, my name is Green Tea and the shelter has been a little overwhelming for me. I came from a home with many cats, who I've gotten along with well. Because I've lived in this home my entire life and have only been around one person, I have little experience with people and am hesitant of new experiences. I would enjoy living in a quiet home, preferably one with lots of vertical space so I have a place to perch and observe the room. I would also appreciate having experienced, patient adopter(s) who are willing to take things slow with me. I would benefit from socialization, using rewards whenever I make a small positive step like making eye contact, allowing petting, or sniffing your hand. I'd prefer to take things at my own pace and would appreciate some good old fashion TLC. If you can open your heart to adopt a cat like me, I'll hopefully have the confidence to come around to my new people, like you! He was sitting in his cubby watching me closely but staring at the wall like it was infinitely more interesting. Perhaps it was but shelter life can also overwhelm our most gentle hearted friends. Basil politely lowered his head away from my outstretched hand so I quietly closed the cubby door, but then he looked up at me like he kind of wanted me to stay. I stayed with the understanding that friendship doesn't always mean pets and cuddles, which Basil hasn't really been very interested in at the Care Center. Instead I decided to read to Basil and this turned out to be just the thing. He came to us from a home with many other cats and while the details of his life before may have some holes, we know the future will be much brighter. Basil tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. I assured he'll win the most friends just by being himself and it was more than fine by me if he needed a few extra moments to get ready. I sat by his kennel and read to him as he did and though Michael looked like he was still trying to find a place for himself, he eventually decided his place was leaning into my arms. Theatrically stretching himself out and affectionately looking up, Michael has so much love to share.
