@afneil I’ve read the thread, it’s clear she (and you presumably) see the benefit as increased tax revenue when landed and/or sold on to the “market” inc non UK. Until the model changes to enable reduction in my tax liabilities or my energy bills then I’m not interested

@bbc5live stop telling us that Electricity is charged to us the same price as Gas as if it’s normal. It’s just nuts, solar, wind, nuclear generated here but charged the same price as Gas from a war zone. It’s not normal at the best of times but it’s insane now.

@Mr_SPICI Dark - It's German, it's a bit nuts but it's totally captivating, also ... Station Eleven - not one to watch around the time of a pandemic but it's great, the book is a really good read too. Not sure what platform it's on.

@kokeshimum I'm with you but is there anything to stop us issuing new licences that the Oil extracted be refined & sold in the UK only & the "market" price is based on demand & cost in the UK? These would be new licences? Did Thatcher sell off the sea bed in perpetuity? Genuine question.

40yrs ago today we played a 'home' gig at the College of Higher Education, Hull, and despite an healthy 550 people sell out in attendance, we humiliated ourselves with a poor 2-0 loss.

@monaghanpj @secretclubprov Apprentices used to be on a much cheaper rate as you were passing on your knowledge. Gov are making it harder for apprenticeships. It will be a problem in the future.

It now costs £111,000 to employ three 21 year olds on minimum wage for 40hrs per week each. Next time you complain about the price of the Timothy Taylor’s at the GC bare this in mind This is not sustainable for many businesses

@RetiredMgr @secretclubprov I’ve just caught a bit of a discussion on 5 Live about the “crisis” in hospitality. It seems there is an undercurrent of loathing staff, loathing customers, loathing government, loathing competitors etc etc etc. The moaning and whingeing is not exclusive.

@philw1988 @secretclubprov I can understand, at the very end of my career I went from PAYE to self employed and was staggered by how much less my liability for taxes was. Why are Apprentices less valuable?

@monaghanpj @secretclubprov I run an electrical company. I pay way above minimum wage. Yes they do add value all very good lads, and I try to look after them as much as I can. NON are happy with being employed and want self employment. BUT apprentices are becoming less and less valuable.

@secretclubprov Do they add any value to your business at all? What jobs do they do, what turnover/revenue do they bring in or support at a club? Your problem is that you see your staff as a "cost", if they have no value then why employ them?

The “cost” to employ not just what you can Google/A.I to tell me I’m wrong,par Holidays ? Minimum Wage from April is £12.71ph Paid holidays ? Cover for paid holidays ? Uniforms ? Essential Training courses ? Sick Pay ? Cover for sick pay ? It’s probably more than £111k 👇👇👇

If not Burnham, who? Suddenly we have a huge scramble. It’s now Manchester council leader @bevcraig - soft left, very competent - who has a decision to make. She’s the top name local sources are talking about but she’s said to be reluctant to leave a job she’s doing well.

@BPete1970 @1968Tv I went to the 1st match at Spurs, many games cancelled that day due to icy pitches, very "lively" before and after the game, fans from different London clubs with no match hanging around too. The "escort" through the Broadwater Farm Estate evaporated. Great result, mad day 😎

Command & control is more important than performance is the message to take from the sacking, the world of work is full of it. Followed by the big distraction of managing the social media narrative. Governments, Organisations, Businesses and Football Clubs, they’re all at it.

@BPete1970 @steven67hartley Same here 😁 I had a mega row with my Dad when he applauded West Brom’s fifth, they were fabulous. I also remember being irritated with that count thing Forest fans used to do for their corners? In those days you always had hope and a bit of spark, football today is soulless.

30 December of any year always reminds me of going to this match. The 5-3 defeat to West Brom in 1978. Sat in F stand. Junior STH. Embarrassing racist chants. And we got beat. Shaking my head at FT. But now you think to yourself "I was there". The game of the century.
