Causal inference becomes much harder when the structure is uncertain. Estimating effects from off-policy data is not enough on its own. At #OxML 2026, Prof. Ricardo Silva (@ucl) will explore causal discovery and the extrapolation of causal effects. 👉oxfordml.school

Multimodal AI will shape the next phase of ML. As AI moves beyond single-modality systems, stronger foundations in fusion, alignment, reasoning, & generation will matter even more. At #OxML 2026, we’ll explore the principles behind multimodal AI. 👉oxfordml.school/2026

Foundation models didn’t replace fundamentals — they scaled them. The people who move into research and system-level roles aren’t just using models. They understand how they learn, optimise, and fail. At #OxML2026#MLxCases, we build from first principles. User → Builder.

Education should never be interrupted by repression. Today, AI for Global Goals launches the Crisis Access Scholarship – Iran for the OxML 2026 cohort. The scholarship provides a full waiver for the online components of the programme to exceptional applicants whose education has been disrupted by recent violence and repression in Iran. Founded by an Iranian academic, this initiative is deeply personal. Talent should not be silenced, and access to education should not depend on circumstance. Most people are learning how to prompt. Very few are learning how models actually work. That gap will define careers. At OxML 2026 — MLx Cases, we build a MiniGPT from scratch. Transformer architecture. Training & scaling. Tokenisation. Inference trade-offs. #OxML

President @realDonaldTrump, @marcorubio, and @PeteHegseth, if you are going to watch any footage of Iran, this mini documentary is it. Please watch the first 15 minutes and you will bear witness to one of the greatest crimes against humanity in recent decades. The United States is the most powerful country in the world. The IRGC has been an exporter of terror around the world with nuclear ambitions only recently temporarily thwarted by our incredible military. Leaving these monsters in control of the second largest oil reserves in the Middle East — which they will continue to use to fund terror around the world, rebuild their nuclear capability, and support our arch enemies — remains an extremely serious persistent and long-term existential threat to the United States and to the world at large. President Trump, you are a man of your word. You drew a red line about the regime killing protesters. They have now reportedly killed 43,000 and blinded and maimed hundreds of thousands more. You have called out to the Iranian people to continue their protests as they have bravely done unarmed and at massive cost in tens of thousands of young lives lost to this genocidal regime. You have lived up to every commitment that you have made to the American people and to the world. Your reputation for keeping your word has restored the United States to again being respected as the most powerful nation in the world. And let’s not forget that they have attempted to assassinate you twice. President Trump, it is time to finish the job. We have important strategic, moral, economic, and ethical reasons for doing so. A world without the IRGC controlling Iran would generate a massive peace dividend forever experienced around the world. It would set a powerful and important example that the United States does not tolerate the worst form of evil. It would be one of your most important forever legacies as President of the United States. The Iranian people are an amazing people who deserve to be free from terror and evil. The United States has the most powerful military in the world as you so remarkably and masterfully demonstrated against Maduro in Venezuela. It appears that we are now locked and loaded. Let’s let them live.

On 8-9 January 2025, a massacre by Khamenei’s regime has devastated Iran. The dead are counted in tens of thousands—but the grief is measured in millions. 1/ #IranMassacre

The Iranian uprising has become an awkward dilemma for much of the left. It is openly pro-Western, unapologetically secular, and explicitly hostile to political Islam. There is no favored “exotic victim” to romanticize, no anti-American slogans to recycle, no colonial guilt to put to use and for that very reason, exposes how selective so many proclaimed solidarities really are.
