Before I share some thoughts on variance and poker I will just let you know a little about my background. I played for a living from 2010 to 2016 with moderate levels of success, but everything changed for me at the back end of 2014 when @padspoker, who I'd known for a few years already, posted this thread on blonde poker (shout out to blonde/@Tony_Kendall, amazing place full of good people, many well known UK heroes benefitted a lot from blonde) - blondepoker.com/forum/index.ph…
This was the beginning of @bitBstaking and I was extremely fortunate to be a part of it from beginning to end.
I started playing "mid-stakes" MTT's ($40-50 abi haha, how times have changed to what mid-stakes is deemed as now compared to back then) for around 18 months, mostly broke and struggling but enjoying the environment. The big moment that changed everything came when I began to work for the team and cut down on playing, eventually working full-time managing bitB and so I stopped playing altogether.
I had five truly amazing years working in bitB, it changed every single aspect of my life, all for the positive, and during that time I'd be surprised if there was more than maybe a handful of people who analysed more graphs and data on Sharkscope than myself lol. So I've learned a little regarding variance, and I've picked up a few other things along the way working with 100's of poker players, including some of the very best in the game.
I've never been active on socials but will look to stick to posting regularly here and share some of that knowledge to hopefully benefit those who want to follow.
Cheers for reading if you got to the end :) <3 Enjoy your Friday!
