@Wonderful_Chip @BushKadin The answer to your original question is probably no. And then you say to build the biggest oval that we’d currently have?

Will there ever be a new oval race track over 1/2 mile built ever again ??

To make the Coca Cola 600 feel more special like a crown jewel, NASCAR needs the All-Star Race back at Charlotte and bring back mid-week qualifying!

@5KLNASCARFAN Fuck Chicagoland. You can like what you want, but you don’t speak for everyone.

I'll allow that SC's can put on some fun shows But at it's core, racing down a city street is not what people think when they hear "NASCAR" So, from that angle, having these events to show off the sport and attract one-offs from other series falls flat to me I'll elaborate:

@Alyx2448 Only selling 25,000 tickets for a cup race is not viable longterm.

I'm not fully against the Chicago Street Race but NASCAR has to realize that that race will ALWAYS come with the volatility and baggage that is working with the city officials. Chicagoland may be the smaller market but it'll always be far more viable long term.

@brettbphoto No it does not. 25,000 fans at the track does not deserve a cup date.

Chicago in 2025 was one of the coolest experiences I've had at a race so I would not be opposed to seeing it come back. I just hope that this is replacing San Diego and not Chicagoland, because Chicagoland fully deserves a guaranteed Cup race

NEWS: NASCAR is moving closing to again racing in downtown Chicago, with growing optimism that the Chicago Street Course will be part of NASCAR’s 2027 schedule, sources tell @TheAthletic. nytimes.com/athletic/72731…

@_TaylorKitchen_ The way he races people? He would probably need all the way until 2031 to learn how to not race people dirty.

Losing Dover would suck. It’s not like there’s a market to build new oval tracks these days so every unique track we lose is one that will never come back.

Bringing the Chicago Street course back would be a catastrophic mistake and failure to listen to the fans by NASCAR.

@Alyx2448 Yes, it was a waste of time to bring Chicagoland back. It should have never happened.

All that effort to bring back Chicagoland just to ditch it after one season? Yeah fuck this. Unbelievably stupid. Literal waste of time then.

@pgh877 A new street course (Chicago, San Diego, St. Pete, etc) and a historic fan favorite classic track are BOTH objectively a good thing.

@AustinKonenski Boooooooo. Chicagoland sucks. But if it had to stay, I’d remove 1 Kansas or Las Vegas in order to do it. Not the unique race.

NASCAR has several tracks with two dates (Phoenix, Kansas, etc.) that don’t necessarily need two to keep Chicagoland off the schedule. I said it earlier but it makes the most sense for the Chicago SC to replace San Diego, IMO. This is my passionate Chicagoland propaganda tweet.
