$sei.v Total and Galp reach a deal for Mopane. And while it's good to see it finally happen. The market seems disappointed; Galp stock is down 11%. -Total takes 40% and in exchange, Galp gets 10% of Venus and 50% carry. I think that means 50% of the CAPEX Galp has already invested in Mopane, or otherwise there would be no reason to announce, as they are by default 50/50 capex going forward now with Namcor and Custos carried. -A commitment to launch an exploration and appraisal campaign for at least three wells over the next 2 years. The reason the market is not happy is that a cash portion would have been expected, which would have given a cash valuation to Mopane; instead, they did an asset swap. Also, I think the market was expecting a more substantial carry. The exploration commitment is also lacklustre compared to what Galp has been telling the market repeatedly, saying the partner they choose will "fast-track" the development. They still might do it, but the commitment doesn't live up to that statement. From Sintana's perspective, on net, it's good news, but also the deal was worse than expected, so we'll see how the market reacts—definitely not the best outcome.
