@GayAdoptionDad @BorderlineBBS You’re expecting adoptive parents to be professionals. We NEVER know what hell this will be til we take these kids on! No amount of training but fund MUCH MORE SUPPORT!

@BorderlineBBS All that said, I personally still don't think it is robust enough, AND I firmly believe that the length of time for assessment is far too short. It can't go on for an infinite amount of time, I know, and likely never be prepared until "placed" - there is a lot more to say! ;-)

I have a lot to say on this…. If you really want to adopt - then you’ll have to accept the ‘intrusion’ - a blog worth a read, and I’m in complete agreement.

@GayAdoptionDad We had to jump through hoops and through a shaming process that didn’t support us all as a family. One of the children placed with us was without an attachment assessment and it ruined us all. FFS! Support the WHOLE family and stop expecting adoptive parents to be superheroes.

Can people of Leeds help me? I have just now been made redundant, after 12 years in the printing industry. I have a newborn baby and am desperate to get back in to work, no matter what it is. I'm a very quick learner, and would appreciate any help that is given.

@sallydwrites We use these days as punctuation to stop and tell each other our stories, honour the kids BP’s and create space for the grief and anger- we do it the day before to help take the raging compulsion out of it! Important to kill the expectations of these days.

After many difficult fathers and mothers days we decided to give the choice to mark or not, no judgement, no expectation. For many years those days were about grief, anger and silence. Of course they were. It’s not like that any more. Keep the faith. (And pack in the self care.)

Am saddened all people engaged in this argument are doing so from deep wounds and now everyone’s hurting. This entire argument is now one big wound. More #tolerance please.

The Boy returned to school today & it sounds like they’ve had the best day. His school & teacher have been brilliant throughout lockdown and just incredible today. So much planning had clearly gone into everything. And so many big smiles from all the staff. ☀️ 🌈

Back at the DaddyShip we managed between us: six loads of laundry washed and dried, tidying, cleaning, a grocery shop, uninterrupted work, & even a cake was baked.
