If Climate Change is truly an existential crisis, and we are on "thin ice" and the "time bomb is ticking" then why are the "experts" giving a pass to China, the worlds largest emitter by far, and who are building two new coal plants each week?

@philsturgeon These Rotterdam look amazing! If only the cyclists were shaded by trees, it would be perfect, IMO.

Rotterdam bike lanes are separated from cars, protected by a wildflower meadow up a slope, and Bristol bike lanes are confusingly painted with mangled flimsy plastic wands protecting us sometimes when they’re not parked all over by delivery drivers and random bellends.

🚴 I can get most of the way from Netherlands to Sweden on proper bike lanes, but in the U.K. Conservatives and Labour are quickly ripping them out to appease a shouty minority: the petrogammons. The white bits are bike lanes. Some of the non bike lane blue bits are ferries. 😂

@deleugyn @mattstauffer @derickr @JoePFerguson I've been wanting to do an update to PHP.net because it's been 10 years! In particular, CSS variables and light/dark themes are now widely supported by browsers. I started to think this direction (e.g. theme-medium.css) but never finished. Send me an email!

Does anyone know who's primarily responsible for php.net? I know it's open source, but who makes decisions about which PRs get merged, etc.? Transparency: *very very* early curiosity about whether those groups would be open to proposed design/layout changes.

@TheFigen That road is not highway is just a rural road link between local city! In S.Korea we have another solar road like that.

Please consider paying for carbon offsets. Find a certified provider you trust, or has secondary goals you care about, and subscribe. Here's my Ecologi referral link if you just want something easy: ecologi.com/levimorrison?r…

Today is my 1 year anniversary of using Ecologi to plant trees and offset carbon. It's not expensive; I spend about $30/month. Although it's best to lower your footprint by using less energy, and cleaner energy, certified carbon offsets are still a good thing.

With Fiber in 8.1 a new age dawns for #PHP. @AsyncPHP and @ReactPHP are joining forces through @RevoltPHP collaborating on a shared event loop and Fiber abstraction. Stay tuned!

@MrDanack @seldaek @heiglandreas @Crell @krakjoe If you have a closure, there's no reason to use partials without binding any arguments e.g. `$fn(?)`. I do agree that an arrow function is the way to do this, not by adding more to partial function application.

@Crell @morrisonlevi @krakjoe regarding partial function application, would it be possible to also support ?0, ?1 etc to grab an arg by position? When you need to swap the order of arguments being passed to a callback this would be practical. Perhaps rare enough to ignore though.

@philsturgeon I do understand the project is expensive, and there are probably cheaper ways to improve citizens lives, but I didn't understand the arguments being made.

@philsturgeon "They argue it will increase pollution, drive up car use and increase emissions in the midst of a climate crisis." Presumably the cars already drive a longer distance which the tunnel will shorten? How does this increase car use and emissions?

🌍 An immediate halt to the Silvertown Tunnel and all other major road construction projects is absolutely necessary to avert pointless deaths and climate catastrophe.
Transport Action Network@TransportActio2

Building the #SilvertownTunnel is incompatible with reducing #AirPollution in London and tackling #climate change. @SadiqKhan's support becomes more untenable by the day. It is time @grantshapps withdrew the DCO planning permission before more people die theguardian.com/environment/20…

Anyone building PHP using libmysqlclient rather than mysqlnd (the default)? If so, I'd be interested in why. Wondering how important it is to retain support for that largely unmaintained configuration.

@petdance Twice in the last month I've encountered sites that allowed only specific punctuation characters in the password. Seriously allowed only like 3-4 specific characters. Come on, people, that's more work for less security!
