@sophiacolis01@TA_ED50 It is interesting to see how universities praise diversity but fail to show that there is privilege and like you mentioned more favorable to a certain race @abhornUCRedu#UCR50
Will universities ever reach a point where other races are not highly favored over others? There was a decrease in more than half of minority athletic admission rates than white people. @TA_ED50#UCR50
It is not a surprise to see how white student athletes are treated compared to other student athletes and how they receive different privileges, will that ever change? @abhornUCRedu#UCR50
@stephanieW010@KatryaLy I agree, it doesnt make sense how college athletes endure so much and have such a different lifestyle than normal college students yet don’t receive what they deserve! #UCR50@abhornUCRedu
College athletes are in a special position in the current system, with restrictions of sports organizations having a different effect on their life than on others. These athletes are more vulnerable to business activities that restrict their rights. #ucr50@KatryaLy
There needs to be a change!!! Student athletes do not profit off their own name, rather they are the ones to be doing all the work. It just doesnt seem right! #UCR50@abhornUCRedu
@WeissJorda13708@abhornUCRedu It is so saddening to see all the obstacles and challenges placed upon women, rather than lifting and supporting them society tends to bring them down and unfortunately that is the sad reality!
#UCR50@abhornUCRedu
Colleges placed barriers for women to make it more challenging or unachievable to attend college such as requiring women to live on campus, forcing them to pay the extra cost of campus housing which they hoped would turn them away. This was our world. #UCR50@abhornUCRedu
@UCErik050@abhornUCRedu Hi Erik! I think you pose an excellent question! It’s interesting to see how many sports claim diversity yet there we don’t see much of it.
#UCR50@abhornUCRedu
Athletes deserve equal opportunities, it is important to have diversity in sports because it promotes unique perspectives, new opportunities, and even new relationships and opportunities!!!
#UCR50@abhornUCRedu
@AAlmarez80596@abhornUCRedu I totally agree, I think it is important to remember that college athletes are on a tighter schedule and don’t always have the time like the rest of the students. Schools should try to accommodate to student athletes and their time!
#UCR50@abhornUCRedu
I feel that cause athletes, and do need some special commendations because they are representing the college in a sense. As in certain buildings stay open longer for athlete students like dining halls and libraries
@abhornUCRedu#UCR50
It is easy to doubt ourselves as college students but it can be more stressful as an athlete. How does this doubt from professors, family, or society affect a college athlete mentally and physically?
#UCR50@abhornUCRedu
@wgerv001@abhornUCRedu hey wendy! it can be super draining to manage everything these student athletes must endure especially because they have to make sure they meet what is expected from them in all areas making them challenge and push themselves even more! #UCR50@abhornUCRedu
How can student-athletes manage the challenges of balancing academic, athletic, and social demands, especially when they are academically underprepared? It can physically and mentally drain student-athletes having to challenge themselves. @abhornUCRedu#UCR50#UCR50horn
College athletes are both athletes AND students, meaning they need time to learn how to balance out what is expected from them both physically and academically. How do student athletes balance the two out to meet what is expected from them?!
