Before you write SQL in production, you must: 👊 Crack your knuckles 💻 Open pgAdmin ⌨️ Type in ALL CAPS like the database owes you money

Today’s lesson: SELECT * FROM products; → everything SELECT name, price FROM products; → just what you need Capitalization doesn’t matter… but typing SQL in ALL CAPS just hits different. 😤 Also added a created_at column with NOW() with timezone. Small step solid foundation

Spent 1 hour today actually writing SQL by hand. No ORM. No AI. Just me, pgAdmin, and a products table. Feels good to go back to basics. #FastAPI #PostgreSQL #BuildInPublic

Once you build it from scratch first, the PyTorch version finally makes sense.Still a long way to go, but this tutorial removed a lot of the confusion. Next up: Transfer Learning for Computer Vision.#PyTorch #MachineLearning #BuildInPublic

Instead of loose weights floating around, the model now owns its own parameters in a clean, reusable class with __init__ and forward(). Big realization: torch.nn isn’t magic. It’s just the manual code I wrote earlier — but organized, scalable, and much easier to work with.

What is torch.nn really? I finally went through the official PyTorch tutorial properly instead of just copying code. Here’s what actually clicked for me: 1/ Started with the basics using raw tensors only — random weights, bias, and manual matrix multiplication.

@ModernGrindTech Good call on the streaming approach. Right now I'm using PIL.verify() after upload which catches most issues, but checking the first chunks before full read makes sense for production. For now this is portfolio/low-traffic, but I'll add proper streaming validation Later

@mosco361 size caps + dimension check is the right floor. In prod i stream the upload through sharp, reject anything that fails to decode in the first few KB, then re-encode to strip exif + normalize format.

3 weeks into FastAPI learning 📊 Real talk: Started strong, then inconsistent. Life happened. But progress ≠ pace: ✅ Pydantic validation ✅ CRUD operations ✅ Database basics ⏭️ Next: File uploads for my platelet counting API
Amos@mosco361

Update: Day 1 done ✅ Built first FastAPI endpoints - GET/POST routes working, automatic docs generated. Node/Express background made this smooth. Pydantic validation next. Following the 2-week plan I outlined above 👆 #FastAPI #BuildInPublic

@ModernGrindTech Appreciate the tip! 🙏 I did add size caps (10MB) and dimension checks tonight, but didn't know about the streaming aspect - still learning the nuances. How do you usually handle image validation in production?

@mosco361 pydantic + fastapi for a platelet counter is a solid stack. File uploads were the part that tripped me up first, UploadFile streaming + a size cap early saves pain later.

Built my first production API tonight 🚀 FastAPI + YOLOv8 platelet detection: ✅ Upload microscopy image via POST ✅ Returns JSON with platelet count + bounding boxes ✅ Automatic Swagger docs at /docs ✅ Real model from my thesis integrated 2 hours. From zero to working API.
