This was me before I came across @MikeMichalowicz's formula in his book "Profit First", which applies to both business and personal lifestyle,
REVENUE - PROFIT = EXPENSE (as opposed to REVENUE - EXPENSE = PROFIT)
The only thing dumber than this dumb formula is me not realizing this earlier than I had.

I think most folks don’t realize that in Silicon Valley..
There are plenty of people who are living paycheck to paycheck even though they are earning top-tier income.
This is happening for early-career folks and definitely true if you have kids. “Going negative” for a few years is a common utterance, especially if people want to be ambitious (aka working on startups).
Given that real estate and daycare are expensive, people end up having absurdly high monthly burn.
Add lifestyle creep, and folks are essentially one layoff away from a house of cards coming down.
This is especially happening now as “directors” are getting fired from large companies and they are forced to take a title and compensation deflation.
You only hear the “killing it” and “making millions” stories so it’s often good to remember that this other reality also exists. Just stay humble and play your own game!

I did a 7-day @jhanatech retreat, meditated 2-3h everyday, and I only needed ~5h of sleep after first 3 days. What I learned is that you can essentially replace at least 3-4 hours of sleep with a state where your body is sleeping but mind isn't.
tl;dr: my body probably needs 7-8h of rest every day, my mind definitely doesn't.

Wow ~70% of the people replying either have poor reading comprehension skills or make assumptions about me, but what more can you expect on Twitter! 😄
1. I am not denying the importance of sleep. SLEEP DEPRIVATION IS BAD, I try to obtain ~7 hrs of sleep every night. That is not the point of the tweet. I am saying wouldn't it be nice if we could make it not this way?
2. This has nothing to do with productivity, capitalism, me being in my 20s, whatever other rubbish you guys are saying. Are all of you seriously okay with being essentially unconscious for a third of your life? That's a third of your life you could be out there experiencing the world, enjoying life!!
For context, I have been saying this since I was like 6 yrs old, I have even talked about this on national TV at 9 yrs old lol

I would pay hundreds of dollars per month to cut down or eliminate the amount of sleep my body requires more people need to be working on this fr

for serious / long-term projects, vibe-code suffers the exact same problems as no-code.
you inevitably hit the capability ceiling when the underlying model/tool crumbles under its own weight.
and you are left hanging at a state which is objectively worse than if you or another skilled engineer have built it.
