Giro d'Italia🇮🇹 GC ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Jonas Vingegaard ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Pellizzari ⭐️⭐️⭐️Bernal, Gall, AYates ⭐️⭐️Hindley, Arensman, Storer, Buitrago ⭐️Vine, O' Connor, Gee, Van Eetvelt, Piganzoli There is not much to overcomplicate here: Jonas Vingegaard starts this Giro as the clear standout favourite for the overall victory. If he arrives at his expected level, he simply has everything required to win superior climbing, elite three-week consistency, and the ability to control the race against virtually anyone in this field. Realistically, it would be surprising if he is not the final winner. Behind him, my strongest pick for second place is Giulio Pellizzari, who I place slightly above the rest of the contenders. Pellizzari looks like one of the most complete young climbers in the race: highly consistent, already remarkably mature for his age, and coming off a good season so far. His victory at the Tour of the Alps was particularly significant, especially given the quality of riders he defeated, including several genuine Giro GC contenders. Add in strong performances in stage races earlier this season, and there is every reason to believe he can establish himself as the best of the challengers behind Vingegaard. The battle for third place, however, feels far more open and that is where things become truly interesting. My personal favourite for the final podium spot is Egan Bernal. He got injured and raced little but he returned strong and finally appears capable of competing near the front again, and his recent performances suggest he is rediscovering a level that once made him one of the sport’s elite Grand Tour riders. A return to the Giro podium would not only be a remarkable sporting achievement but also one of the great comeback stories in recent cycling. Still, Bernal faces serious competition. Felix Gall is a pure climber with the ability to excel on difficult mountain stages, and while the time trial not suit him, this field does not feature an overwhelming number of dominant time trial specialists outside the obvious names. Adam Yates also deserves major respect. A proven Grand Tour podium finisher, Yates has the experience and climbing pedigree to punish any weakness from his rivals. While his season so far may not have been entirely convincing, his ceiling remains extremely high, and motivation can often transform riders in a race like the Giro. Then there is Jai Hindley a former Giro winner who should never be underestimated. He knows what it takes to survive and thrive over three weeks, and that alone keeps him relevant. Thymen Arensman may be one of the more dangerous outsiders. His time trial ability is among the best in this GC field, and if he manages his form and mentality well, the long, rhythm-based climbs of the third week could suit him perfectly. Further down, riders like Michael Storer, Santiago Buitrago, and especially Jay Vine could all threaten the top 10, with Vine perhaps being the most intriguing wildcard thanks to his combination of climbing and time trialing assuming he can finally put together a clean, uninterrupted Grand Tour. Overall prediction: Vingegaard looks like the clear winner on paper. Pellizzari appears ready to confirm himself as one of cycling’s brightest GC prospects. And behind them, the fight for the final podium place could become one of the defining battles of the race. Bernal’s comeback, Yates’ experience, Gall’s climbing, Hindley’s pedigree, and Arensman’s engine all make this a fascinating Giro. #Giro #GirodItalia
