Ok, I MIGHT be retarded. Mean k/d is impacted by player attribution, so incidence weights certain kills higher than others. E.g: A kill from a 3000 hour player weighs a whole lot less than a kill from a 3 hour player because of the difference in k/d shift. To that end: the mean k/d in trials over the past 2 hours is 0.945. (Thanks warmind.io) I really don't feel like pulling k/ds from like 200 matches of control to verify if sbmm without Trials' specific quirks pulls things drastically up or down, so I'm just going to assume the mean is somewhere around .95. Also, based on the fact that FORTY-EIGHT PERCENT of you fuckers are using PRAXIC BLADE??? I'm assuming that, even with the boost from sbmm, there's a ridiculous amount of .3s roaming the wastelands of control. Lol. Thanks to @moxyy_mc for correcting me. (P.S: I love learning stat lessons on X that I could've picked up in high school if my backwoods ahh school didn't only have one stat class that didn't work with my schedule.)

The mean k/d in Destiny 2 is 1.0 by necessity, dude. For someone to get a kill some else must die. This is how a pvp game works. If you're talking about *median* k/d, there are more .3s than 3.0s causing the median to be roughly .9-.98 based on some estimates people have done.

Yes, the mean can theoretically be skewed by outlier matches. I hadn't considered what you're describing: a.k.a player attribution impacting the weighting of each kill over the larger system. However, the mean k/d is still necessarily very close to 1.0: High skill players play the game more, while low skill players play the game less while making up a higher percentage of the population. This increases the incidence of low k/ds which equalizes the above 1.0 outlier matches you're proposing.

@KnownAsSys while the k/d of this match was 1.0 (20 kills/20 deaths) that's just not how player k/ds are calculated. the kills and deaths have to be attributed to a player. the mean kd of these 3 players is 1.8.
