We’ve updated questionnaires to start including ASL as a fluent language option at schools beginning Monday, rolling out to all schools the next Monday. We’ll adjust it to match the local language when the Marriage Pact goes abroad.

We got an email today with a great suggestion: “Fluency in ASL is certainly not a requirement for a good match with a CODA or person who is Deaf, but it can play an important role,” they wrote. Could we add American Sign Language to our fluent language question? Yes!

(Footnote: We give many participants the option to clarify which genders they’d like to match with, and a subset of bi women match with nonbinary, gender-fluid, agender or gender-nonconforming individuals as well! This analysis includes only the broad strokes of the idea.)

If you indicate you’re bisexual, pansexual, or you write in your sexuality, we’ll ask you which gender(s) you’d like the algorithm to consider for you for the pact.
