@TimTeske8 @kingkee42 @LfcNuel It's the same as you saying a player isn't offside because he was ahead of the defender by a toe nail. I hear your point, but the rules currently dont put those small margins into consideration. Doesn't matter how much deflection was there, rules are rules.

🚨 Thierry Henry on the chaotic 5-4 thriller between PSG and Bayern, the controversial Dembélé penalty, and Michael Olise destroying Nuno Mendes: “Listen, everyone wants to celebrate a 5-4 scoreline, but we have to be honest about how we got there. That penalty call on Alphonso Davies right before half-time is an absolute disgrace to the Champions League. It is never a handball in a million years. The referee basically handed PSG a parachute just when Bayern were suffocate them. You give a player like Ousmane Dembélé a free gift from the spot right at the whistle, and it completely manipulates the psychological state of the second half. But putting the referee aside, the real story for me tonight was Michael Olise. I have watched Nuno Mendes completely pocket some of the greatest wingers in Europe over the last few years. He is an absolute machine. But tonight? Olise made him look like a lost academy boy. The directness, the trickery, the utter disrespect on that right wing, I don't think I have ever seen anyone do that to Nuno Mendes in his entire career. PSG might be taking a 5-4 lead to Germany, but if Olise plays like this in the second leg, Paris is in massive trouble.”

@LfcNuel That's a clear Penalty bro, Davis fucked up by bidding his hand and then bringing it out just before Dembele wanted to cross the ball

@mpho_oganne @laurenz01z @Nino12x Prem teams will try play at their best levels in the UCL but it won’t make any difference as teams like Bayern would’ve rotated their teams over the weekend and had more rest.

@mpho_oganne @laurenz01z @Nino12x Stop being ingnorrsnt and use some common sense . Isn’t it obvious they don’t even have to play to their best levels against those small teams which allows them to turn up in big matches.PL teams will play tough matches and then go and play againt teams like PSG

@pott74417 @laurenz01z @Nino12x Lol okay mate, they dont play any good teams but they hardly ever put 7 goals past those teams?. The minute they play against PL teams which are levels above, that's when we see shocking aggregate scores

@mpho_oganne @laurenz01z @Nino12x THE PREM IS STILL LEVELS ABOVE OTHER LEAGUES. It’s not a gimmick saying this because teams like Barcelona , Bayern , PSG & Realmadrid don’t even play any good teams consistently. Whereas in the PREM all teams are consistently harder to beat.

@pott74417 @laurenz01z @Nino12x I thought we have debunked this gimmick of saying levels of defending are different in other leagues, because PL teams are always getting pumped in the CL by teams of other leagues.

@laurenz01z @Nino12x In laliga the defender would’ve gone towards Neto to attack the ball instead of drifting back and covering the space . You can’t compare the level of defending in those other leagues to prem.

I Hope whatever the plan is, it’s not to sit deep and just invite pressure, because once you do that against a side like Barcelona, you’re basically playing into their hands. They don’t even need to force it. Give them the ball, give them territory, and before you know it, the game is being played almost entirely in your half. The wide players start pinning you back, the midfield begins to recycle possession endlessly, and you’re just chasing shadows. It stops being about “defending well” and turns into survival. And the scary part? Barca are patient. They’ll probe, switch play, drag your shape out of position, and wait for that one moment your line drops a second too deep or someone switches off. That’s all it takes. One cutback, one slipped pass, and everything you’ve been trying to protect is gone. If anything, the smarter approach is to meet them higher up the pitch, disrupt their rhythm early, make them uncomfortable. Don’t let them settle into that flow where the ball just keeps moving and you’re reacting instead of controlling anything. Because the moment you accept being pinned back, you’re no longer dictating the game… you’re just delaying the inevitable.
