The story of @sabiti_edwin continues to get sweeter. Before he joined @MakerereLaw he promised me to get a CGPA of 4 as I assured him that that’s the best way to get into Harvard. Indeed he got the CGPA, promised me to get a first class at LDC and did it. Then we agreed that he applies to Harvard and I was sure he would be admitted. Finally, I am glad that he was not only admitted but also got TOTAL financial aid. The boy from St. Kaggwa High School is going to @Harvard_Law for his LLM on full scholarship. Congratulations Edwin. You have made me very proud. It’s so good to see those close to you keep winning. AMDG

Congratulations to all those graduating from @MakerereLaw and most especially to Sir @sabiti_edwin. I remember I met this young man at the Great Gate of @Makerere, he recognized me as the then valedictorian and we exchanged contacts. His dream was to do his best to shine but I gave him one simple advice: try your best to get a CGPA of 4, be part of CLE, make great friends, help colleagues and have good rapport with lectures. When his CGPA was falling apart, we would spend hours calculating to meet the target. Am glad that after 4 years of Law School, Edwin is graduating as the third best student from Law School and with a CGPA of 4+. All I can say now is that I am proud of this achievement and I think it’s time u join me for a couple of some Scotch 🥃 To the rest of the graduands, all I can say is that this is not end of ur achievements but rather the beginning of more yet to come. Be humble, kind, humorous, generous and gather enough social capital that adds value to u. The rest will depend on hardwork and discipline. Before I forget, let no one belittle your achievement of an LLB: many yearned for it, many attempted to get it but u are among the few that are graduating. Congratulations. eh Makerere Oyee

I’ve put up more than half of my library collected from when I was 16 to create a free-access book library in Nakasero (The Book Cellar). The books can be read from the Cellar, it also serves great coffee, plus, a small collection of Vinyl records. See you guys 😊

FAMOUS QUOTES FROM UGANDA PRESIDENT YOWERI MUSEVENI, January 29, 1986 at the steps of Parliament, Kampala: “In Uganda, we have had a system where if a man is an opponent, his wife is an enemy, his children are enemies, and his cattle are enemies. This is PRIMITIVE AND COUNTER-REVOLUTONARY. “Guilt is individual. If a man has committed an offence, he will be tried in the courts of law. His wife, his children, or his relatives should not be punished for his crime.”

Beware of rage-baiting social media actors. Their influencer business model is covered in thin layers of public intellectualism. They accumulate pelf through such approaches and means. They have ‘expert’ opinions on all manner of subjects. One day, they are ‘experts’ in latrine digging, and another day, they are ‘experts’ in aerospace engineering. They are pleonastic in their expositions. Such is their range of expertise! They write thick texts and seem to be online every minute. Their intention is not to engage in a meaningful, good-faith debate. Instead, stirring emotions, lighting a fire, and once they have done so, they look on with glee. Their poppycock actions may be missed by many, but if you look closely, you’ll be sure to ignore them.
