For those who still think AI is just a consumer chatbot, you have a lot to learn.
I think its value is easiest to understand when looking at healthcare.
Near term (0-2 years): The immediate ROI comes from cutting overhead and predicting emergencies. AI is cutting documentation time by up to 50% and acting as an early screening tool for everything from mental health declines (84% accuracy) to life-threatening sepsis (up to 99% accuracy). It’s also transforming the operating room with precision robotics and spotting tiny data patterns to predict when a patient is about to crash (like going into cardiac arrest) hours before we can see the physical symptoms.
Medium term (3-5 years): AI and early quantum computing will massively improve timelines. We will see drug development shrink from the 10-15 year industry standard down to just a few years. We can now run predictive digital trials instead of physical ones, allowing companies to cut trial times in half, avoid 100s of millions in late-stage failures, and stop patients with rare diseases from bouncing between doctors for years. Google DeepMind’s AlphaFold 3 and Nvidia’s BioNeMo are already the engines behind this.
Long term (10+ years): The true payoff hinges on AI understanding human biology at a systems and genomic level. For complex conditions like Alzheimer’s or cancer, we could see early prevention and advanced therapies. This will revolutionize detection, turning many fatal cancers into manageable conditions and potentially even reversing neurological damage.
Aside from the cost improvements which will apply to all industries, improving quality of life, preventing disease, and actually saving lives is kind of a big deal.

@mply_cap Ok point taken but some of the software names on your list are producing essentially 0 for shareholders after sbc, they are “private companies in the public domain” the bubble is deflating and AI was just the pin
