The stone was transported from quarries dozens of kilometres away. The Great Circular Sanctuary at the site consists of three concentric rings. An outer ring of 104 andesite blocks, a middle ring of 180 andesite posts arranged in 30 groups of 6 vertical posts and one horizontal block. An inner ring of 82 thick timber posts in a D-shape arrangement. Mainstream archaeology has published academic comparisons between the layout and Stonehenge in England. The Andesite Sun is a 7 metre stone disc with 10 radiating sectors and a 16-stone pointer arrow. Peer-reviewed astronomical analysis published in the Romanian Astronomical Journal confirmed the disc functions as a sundial and solar calendar using analemma geometry consistent with Vitruvius and stereographical projection consistent with Hipparchus. The Romans burned the religious sanctuaries to the ground in 106 CE under Trajan. The Dacian language is largely lost and the Dacian written records did not survive. A civilisation that built one of the most sophisticated astronomical sanctuaries in ancient Europe was systematically removed from the historical record by the empire that conquered it. The conquerors wrote the textbooks but the builders left behind a stone calendar and walls that have never been replicated. What else did the Dacians know that the Romans burned to the ground before we could ever read it?
