@DanKingdom96 Ironic really they are one supposedly to have voted NOT to have a proper division 1, just a mish mash of conferences & fake finals 🙈

25 years after two divisions were introduced, every county has now been promoted at least once and relegated at least once Leicestershire started the two-division era in Division 1, but were relegated in 2003 and hadn't been back up since - until now

@CleaveO Win nothing? We are without question the best T20 side in the country. 4 finals days in a row, yet another home quarter final coming up. We may not win anything but we are certainly favourites in that. Not to mention 2nd with 3 to play in the metro. #glasshalfempty

A game of fine margins. Some indifferent bowling cost us. 27 extras conceded including 13 wides and couple of no balls v Warwickshire’s 12 made up of 9 wides. Probably needed 320/330 with bat as well. We go again but fear it will be another season where we win nothing.

@CleaveO Only after he was in the listed squad! I'd guess they knew 6/7 months ago when the due date was! Exactly that, enjoy the game for what it is, it's not our strongest 11, but lots of youngsters on the big stage making their way, who need supporting.....

@mredwards29 On TKC we were told why he was absent. Strongest available? Leach? Anyway just enjoying another day at Taunton in the sunshine with friends.

Looking forward to seeing Kian Roberts and JT Langridge but baffling to leave Pretorius out our overseas who we are literally paying not to play.

@CleaveO We regularly fib in our squad lists! TKC didn't suddenly know that week his partner was due during the Notts match! Miggy was injured for Durham red ball so yes he is being managed. Do we want to win? Yes Are we putting out strongest possible 11 available each match 🤔

Think we're missing a trick by not including Riley Meredith - he'd be a huge asset with the Kookaburra I guess we're either producing a spinning wicket, saving him for next week, or he's unavailable for some reason His contract does allow him to play County Championship

@CleaveO @somersetpodcast It's reality. Somerset hold no power here. Riley isn't contracted for red. You want to read that "option" in a positive light but it was never going to happen. Jason has said how hard it is to sign (others seem to manage it) Hundred gigs are very lucrative, it's a short career

@CleaveO @somersetpodcast Very very naive. We said that same stance last year, he played 0 red ball? and 2 x50? Despite NOT having a hundred gig, this year he does. We aren't paying him his hundred salary for 2 games, he isn't OUR player so of course he would do what suits him best. And yes players rule

@mredwards29 @somersetpodcast So everything revolves around his Hundred contract? Player power once again. A sad indictment of the game these days. Sorry I disagree, whilst he is with us we must make use of him. Basically paying him to sit doing nothing the next couple of weeks. Should play in one of them.

@somersetpodcast Kerr’s answer to Riley’s availability in the County Championship is very disappointing. What was the point in the club stating he would be considered for selection if they won’t use him whilst he is with us?

@SAAdvantage @PeakDan_ @_chris96bcfc That's very true. Many reasons But it is a HUGE factor. Numbers, atmosphere, spending is all vastly increased on a Friday. More early week games will hasten the demise & allow critics to point to it's fall in attractiveness. Somerset sell out, but even we struggle non Fridays

@mredwards29 @PeakDan_ @_chris96bcfc The crowds are poor for many reasons, the day of the week has an impact but it’s not nearly the only factor

These two 4-day games in the middle of the blast make no sense. It extends the Blast unnecessarily. It costs counties extra money if they recruit one format overseas players. It forces players to change mindset/shot options overnight. It’s not conducive to high performance.

@PeakDan_ @_chris96bcfc @SAAdvantage Could not disagree more. T20 blast crowds at most venues have been poor. The only strong nights are Fridays. A 5 week block means you only get 4/5 of your 10/12 games on Fridays. Counties can't sell a Mon/Tue/Wed. How many do Bristol ever get if Somerset aren't there? 🤔

@_chris96bcfc @SAAdvantage I genuinely think having the blast done and dusted in a 5 week window would be the way forward Allows casual cricket fans to keep tabs on the tournament rather than lose interest in this break, and the one before the QFs
