Let's conduct an informal social media Q&A. The floor is open to all who care about the condition of Black Americans & have thoughts to share. These ?s have a good-faith INTENT for better Blk politics:

@BenjaminPDixon To my Black Dem Party supporters, those who range from status-quo-Black-establishment to progressive-dem-socialist in their partisanship... you're going to have to provide me a pathway on how to influence the Dems for Blk Am needs w/this. I don't see it in your strategy. Ever.

@mrhick01 You’ve raised a serious charge. Can you point to concrete examples or evidence for who’s making these decisions and how they threaten the community?

Cowards stay coward-ing & arguing, but I refuse to let this go. Here we go. Ah, now we're past the pomp & circumstance & other BS & getting to the real. Good. (1/x)

I'm pro Black-American first and foremost. Our needs and interests matter and come first. I don't care how any leftists or liberal feel about it either. If we don't put us first no one else will.

A cartoon about my father from the 1960s. At the time he was assassinated, a poll reflected that he was one of the most hated men in the United States. Today, his message has been distorted by many who would have hated him then, but evoke him now to deter justice and truth. #MLKDay #MLK #TheKingCenter #HistoryMatters #ReThinkKing

@Queenofla2 Downplay? No, it's showing every race committed and commits evil. You single out one race in order to demonize them, which allows you to justify treating them badly. This has happened repeatedly throughout history, to different groups. It's obvious you're after a genocide.

What’s with all these white people trying to downplay American slavery? It’s all happening at the same time on twitter like it’s orchestrated. I mean it’s not like they can fool God. Their judgement is still coming
Brett Pike@ClassicLearner

The Ottoman slave trade, the trans Saharan slave trade, the trans Indian slave trade, lasted for thousands of years and enslaved millions of people… Yet school children are led to believe that slavery was a uniquely European activity. Now why do you think that is?

@michaelharriot There will never be an end to random bad-faith social media posts. Willful ignorance, miseducation, & genuine stupidity, animus, resentment, or hatred will never cease in the US. There will always be someone, whether an actual person or a bot account created by one.

I can answer this one: A thread.
Richard Figueroa@Richfigu

@michaelharriot Why is it it's only BLACK people with a race obsession in this country. It's been 160 years since they won their freedom from slavery and the vast majority on still no better off then they were in 1865? It can't all be White racism.

40 year old LeBron James can now coast as a 3rd option on most nights and his team can still score 135 pts and win comfortably but i can’t even really get excited because there’s still absolutely no way these Lakers can beat OKC 4 out of 7 times

And when Black folks, who are often the canary in the coal mine for the outcomes of political, economic, & educational disenfranchisement, experience these, it's solely attributed to cultural failings. When the others experience it, we need to stop the world and review systems.

What's interesting about "Black Issues" now is that most of them are now societal wide: *Boys falling behind in school *Declining Marriages * "Single parent families"

@TheShiftologist @ninaturner It’s wrong. I’ll ignore your useless ad hominem attacks, *once.* The primary reason that it is wrong because you are framing it wrong. King certainly was a believer in the humanity of all. He also recognized that sons & daughters of the emancipated deserved redress.

Believe me my friend, I’m extremely versed on this topic just to put smartass people like you in your place. Instead of going “wrong” like a petulant child, enlighten me on what he meant. Enlighten me on what you interpret the entirety of that speech as well. Because if you think it’s for DEI purposes, you’ve completely lost the plot of the civil rights movement. The civil rights movement took place because people were segregated by skin color and treated causticly due to skin color. MLK was VEHEMENTLY against identity politics and he made that known throughout the course of his life. The civil rights movement was about the fact any skin color can carry merit & impactful character and we should recognize the values we have on the inside and not the appearance of us on the outside. Please tell me I’m wrong you dipshit.

Whenever Black Americans advocate for reparations, white supremacists say “you weren’t alive then.” Mother Viola Fletcher was alive for the Tulsa Race Massacre and y’all denied her, too. We’re coming for our check.

@ninaturner It’s actually laughable how antithetical you people are to what MLK died for: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." -MLK
