In summer 2020 I made a pinhole camera and attached it to the front of school. A school year later and I took it down - this is the image it has captured. Each line is the apparent movement of the sun across the sky before setting behind Bury Hill, South Downs.

It’s time

So much to say about the 90% phonics target. Most of it is about the ridiculousness of it. We have been 90% and 92% the last two years before that with a very SEND heavy year 1 we were 70%, before that we were 84%. Nothing to do with teaching and everything to do with cohort…

This afternoon has given me a new answer to the question “tell me about a time you coped well under pressure”. “I stood still, smiled and clapped my son down the big slide at the park as a wasp somehow made its way under my maxi dress and stung me all over my backside”. 😬
