To start our new DT topic (we will be making pesto pasta!), Year 3 explored some of the different herbs grown in the UK and learned how they could be used in different foods that we eat. Some of us even recognised the herbs we grow at home! @BurfordPrim

We developed as artists in Year 3 this afternoon by using finishing techniques to create contrasting wood and stone effects on our Stone Age axe sculptures. @BurfordPrim

Year 3’s green bean seeds have been sprouting steadily in the window over the last couple of weeks, and we’ve been had a front row seat to witness the germination stage of the life cycle of a plant! @BurfordPrim

This term’s art sculpture project is paper mache - so what better way to spend our Friday afternoon than by scrunching, layering and wrapping newspaper to sculpt our very own Stone Age axe heads! @BurfordPrim

What a brilliant trip out to Poole’s Cavern for Year 3 this week! We built our Stone Age knowledge by exploring the depths of the cave network and learning about the stalagmites and stalactites that fill the caves. Thank you for having us, @Poolescavern ! @BurfordPrim

The only bugs in Year 3’s Computing lesson today were the glowing snails built using our @LEGO_Education WeDo 2.0 kits!🐌 The children wrote a coded sequence of flashing lights and worked brilliantly in their teams! @BurfordPrim

To prepare ourselves for writing our Stone Age cave setting description, Year 3 experienced what Stone Age art materials were like to work with. We created our own cave paintings using sticks and sandpaper to recreate the abrasive texture of a cave wall. @BurfordPrim

We kicked off our new computing topic in Year 3 today using the WeDo kits from @LEGO_Education .The children loved exploring the different parts in the kit and are ready to get building in future lessons! @BurfordPrim

What a busy day in Year 3! This morning, we used the five senses to explore what it would have been like to live in a Stone Age cave. This afternoon, we kicked off our ball skills topic in PE and practised our dribbling skills with both our hands and feet! @BurfordPrim

Just published today @BurfordPrim - the latest addition to the Horrible Histories series, “The Super Suffragettes”! A limited edition, one-of-a-kind book featuring chapters contributed by every member of Year 3. The children have worked so hard on this, well done everyone!👏👏👏

Year 3 locked into D.E.A.R. (drop everything and read) today with a cosy (virtual) fire helping us to get lost in our books. We clocked 448 reading minutes in total for this week’s #readathon and are excited for the rest of this week’s reading challenges! @BurfordPrim

We exercised our democratic right to vote today as we each chose who we thought would make the best Eco Champion for our school before submitting our voting slip in the ballot box. Good luck to all the candidates, Year 3 are waiting in anticipation for the results! @BurfordPrim

Our first #forestschool session was a huge success this afternoon! We learned how to use our fantastic Forest School space safely and explored by building shelters, finding mini beasts and cooking up a storm in the mud kitchen!

Year 3 loved dabbling with their watercolour paint skills and learning new techniques to show use colour in their artwork! Look at the masterpieces that we produced this week! Well done, Year 3!
