As a Community Manager for early stage project, your work is divided into three;
i. CLARITY ii. BUILDING TRUST iii. MOMENTUM.
The founder cannot do it alone that's why you are there to help him.
Let's dive deeper
1. As a CM, you work start from understanding the project vision, what problem are they solving , their goal, roadmaps, identify their audience and clarify brand voice.
The truth is that you can't represent a company well if you don't understand what they are building.
2. Audit the current community; For you to have a functioning community, you have will check the community current size, their growth rate, engagement level, sentiments ,when are the members active and the current communication channel. This tell you the current situation and how you will provide solutions
3. Establish a communication structure: project begins to die silently when communication is missing.
your work is to set a posting schedules, clarify support processes, define moderations rule.
The thing about human is that they go where they are welcome and appreciate.
consistent communication brings about trust.
4. Create a system of engagement( not just post) ; instead of just writing post, do weekly discussion, contest and challenges, spotlight active members and receive feedback.
At the end of each week, always track the following:
i. engagement rate
ii. Growth rate
iii. sentiment shift
iv. Retention rate.
v. Conversion and communication rate.
In conclusion, a CM role is beyond monitoring/managing chat its about building a culture.
